New Character Rig joins the Dead or Alive 5 Cast

It looks like Rig has finally been announced, and with it is a new trailer of him fighting Christie and Bass on an oil rig.

Rig is a Tae Kwon Do user from Canada who apparently is working on an oil rig with Bass Armstrong of all people. Bass is also repairing his bike while in the middle of the ocean doing his job in the mean time. You even get to see a return of his DOA3.1/3.2 4F+P launching throw.

Apparently there's also some history with Rig and Christie. I'm sure we'll find out once the game hits store shelves on September 25th so be sure to pick up your copy at launch day.

Update: Koei-Tecmo has provided the following bio for Rig:

Koei-Tecmo said:
Rig
- A natural born fighter, he has used his powerful instincts to master of the art of taekwondo. He has run the oil rig from a young age, and his colleagues simply call him "Rig." But even he doesn't know his real name or where he comes from.

Fighting Style: He learned taekwondo on the oil rig, which led him to create his own style, with plenty of moves he came up with himself.

The stills for Bass and Rig are displayed below:

Well, you're getting part of your wish. This is the first time you've been able to fall through a floor since DOA2:HC. And we're not even going to go into how stupid difficult it was to cause the avalanche on that level.

Yeah i have soul calibur 5 and yes the stages suck. They look nice but are boring. But i guess im just used to those DOA4 stages. Falling out windows, down stairs, off slopes etc. Also there were multiple ways of stage transitions
When Rikuto puts it THAT way, LOL I'm happy for squares, rectangles, and rhombus's. Also, we need to realize that we've only seen Flow, Scramble, Sakura, Hotzone, The Show, Oil Rig, Gym and Pro Wrestling Arena(Gym, Rig, and Arena aren't even officially listed on the site yet). That's 8 stages out of 16(right?) I'm sure the other stages will be more akin to the older DoA stages.

Rig's design looks very cool and his style is something that DOA should've had since DOA3. Glad for TKD to make it to the game. Christie's outfit is very sexy and Bass is looking incredible. Can't say much about his gameplay because he only did a PB and a throw in the trailer.

Where the hell is the HD render of Tina¿

Hmm... Rig isn't as fluid as I would've thought he'd be in a DOA game. I'm also very, very concerned that he's at disadvantage (maybe even unsafe) when he cancels into Flamingo... just like Helena when she cancels into her stances. If that's the case, I'll be pretty disappointed. But I'll wait until I actually play him before I pass judgment, this is just my initial take.

TKD fighters seems to be a bit wild yet have deceiving finesse with there moves, but the sheer amount of kicks and ability for them to switch stances on the fly makes them a threat. Rig "could" have this same tradition, but this is a promotional video and not an actual match so it's hard to tell.

But since they're working with Sarah Bryant, I can see them getting some ideas to help him out on the fighting plain.

He may have an auto-parry or -counter, Kage-style. In that stance, of course. Might make up for it.

So then it's a guessing game between the defender throwing to avoid the auto-parry or attacking in anticipation of Rig's attack. No thanks. Those kind of things don't work when you have unbreakable throws and 0-frame counters. :(

While I loved Sarah in the E3 build, I expect her to be toned down and no longer have advantage on her Flamingo cancels. I hope I'm wrong, but given the fact that roughly 90% of the attacks in the game were unsafe as of the E3 build, I don't have much confidence we'll see major changes to that.

Here's hoping I'm completely wrong about that though. There's certainly enough time to make those changes.

I wonder if Rig's defensive hold animation uses his legs instead of his hands...

I don't know where Bass works out, but he's looking lean and hella fit. It's a good look.

Working at an oil rig will do that I believe. He probably swam to the oil rig with his bike on his back. The dude can pull a semi-truck.

Been nice if Rig had a parry/counter that puts said character in a stun where they can't immediately counter out of, I say like an 11 frame stun.

Or just give him a bit more attacks that stun and a few more neutral launchers.

A little lack luster but Rig looks cool and the stage seems pretty cool too. Even though yet again its a square stage that leads to another square stage and so on. And english voices sound ok not as good as the japanese voices though.
No issues with stages like those. It just means we get less random elements and spacing issues to deal with in tournaments.
In my day we were given a small 16x16 room cluttered with chairs and shit, with enough time for a short one, maybe two round fight before the teacher got back.
No chairs,
no tables.
Fox only
