so this might prove my theory of a new character every 3 months ..
giving us at least 3 new characters .. (I hope

It's probably just for symmetry at this point. Since the number in the rows is even now, having a random in the center wouldn't look right. Though, I suppose having the random in the right corner (replacing one of them with another character) wouldn't look terrible.so ... 2 random slots and 2 new character slots ...

who said this was the final layout .. ? u forgot how many times the layout changed from alpha demo to vanilla to the final roster ? hell we might even get more than 3 characters ... who knows ..

I hope it's not final (as the character order doesn't make any sense). But, the amount changed from DOA5 to DOA5U or even into DOA5UA was just a matter of adding people onto the third row and rearranging them slightly. I think the drastic change already happened in this case.
Also, I don't think it'd be wise for them to press their luck with making people buy another iteration (after ULTIMATE) and then making them buy more characters after that. I don't think they'd have the time to include that many new characters before release (and do all of the upgrading to the game necessary).

At least 3 or 4 stages are locked up.
The DOA1 stage is selectable, next to the random.
We know one stage is Crimson, so there will be at least 2 or 3 "NEW" stages
Will Helena's cruise from DOAD be a stage? The ship is in the ending of DOA5.

Don't want to be negative Nancy, but a thought occurred. Some of the locked stages could be the same stage but the match starts at different tiers of that stage if we looked at past examples of DoA 5 stage selections.
Crimson for example would eat up two lock stage slots since it has a lower tier area. However since Danger Zone was already unlocked there are still a few more slots and depending how big (the amount of stage tiers) we should be getting at least two more big stages or three smaller single tiers like Danger Zone.

It's already confirmed that one of the characters will be a male and one a female. It's higly possible that the male one is related to Raidou (or the same Raidou) as Hayashi talked of a resurrected character (pun?) that who is fans of the seres will like.
But when this happens, the second tier of the stage is selectable pressing the up/down arrow on the same icon stage (aka: the selection of the levels of the stage fill only a placement in that menu).

Ah ok that is reassuring to hear. I mostly pick random so rarely ever go left/right on stage selection.

Actually the second level of the stage get an "unique place" as you said only in the "stage random filter".
It took me several secs to figure out Marie wasn't actually a physical person.
