Soul Calibur Thread

If I didn't know it was going to be shit, I'd be kind of excited.

I have hope for the series, 5 wasn't a bad game except in terms of story
Now they know not to rush the plot and i'm actually excited because sc5 gameplay and the old style of stories would be amazing

If the story was a large concern for me (which is isn't), SC5 would have been massively offensive.
Luckily, I was too distracted by the obnoxious gameplay and wretched visuals to give it too much attention.

fite me, i've got all the games including soul blade
Gladly. Even Legends and Broken Destiny?

Can you elaborate on what you mean by obnoxious gameplay and wretched visuals? SCV's gameplay is the best and most balanced of the series. The visuals look really good imo, maybe not as good as DOA, but definitely not wretched.

It's a preference thing, but the emphasis of meters and abundance of tatami-like stages will never go over well with me.
On top of that, they straight-up removed or butchered a number of characters I like playing as, which I still do not understand.

and wretched visuals?
Can't explain this more than I have before. Don't like the bloom, everyone's hair looks like shiny paper-clips, skin looks like clammy-wax, most of the arenas aren't too engrossing, costume design continues to get progressively more and more needlessly busy and flashy (which detracts from iconic/discernible design) and then they ramped the color effects up past 9000. I literally can't tell what's going on over half the time because there are green streaks, lightning, and glowing/flashing people setting crap on fire 24/7.

Why did I stop getting notifications for here? I'm like the biggest SC fanboy here.
This is a lie.

Every post u make in this thread is kind of a downer. Every. Single. Post. It physically makes me tired.

Have you tried taking a nap?

Anyway, sorry about that. My intent is not to bring the mood down, just as I'm sure Namco Bandai's intent is not to disappointment me in every conceivable way possible.

Honestly I really like in fictions themes as the passage of the relay between generations and the cyclicla history that need to find a break for not repeating the mistakes of the past, so this is one of the reasons because I like to get new characters that get the place of the old ones having already made their time and journeys. The problem anyway is that SC5 was really drastic under this point of view, putting aside that the plot was anyway left evidently incomplete, with characters or backgrounds never getting a role inside the main storyline.

Not sure how this was made possible in a title as Soul Calibur (definitely not the last of the fighting games), but I hope that for the sequel Namco will return to get the right decisions and without rushing the development. Of course I hope that equal improvements will happen under the gameplay matter.

Under the circumstances, the story was only about 1/3 completed.

I'll agree on infinite stages; however, there are only 2 of them out of 27, and one of them changes into a stage with RO so I don't think they are a major problem. Meter is more of a preference thing like you said. I personally enjoy it. I will agree with how stupid the decision to remove half the characters.

I have to disagree with you here. I think the graphics and everything you said look beautiful lol but to each his own. It's not that hard to see what's going on. The only thing that maybe makes it difficult is the BE yellow.

To this day I still don't understand why they changed the BEs to that color, when they looked so much better in the promo trailers.

+ technically there's 2 (and a half) infinite stages, but it's just a pallete swap Tira/Hilde stage. But yeah I think SC's character models have always looked really good in comparison to other fighters. That's me tho.
