I'm from San Jose, CA. It's about an hour south of San Francisco. I was actually thinking of heading up to IGN's Hot Import Nights in San Mateo on the 18th.

You should definitely do so if you can. Bound to be a fun event and its always nice to see new faces in the community. Though its going to be damn difficult for me to socialize with anybody unless someone manages to jail break me out from behind the commentators desk.... sigh.

Have one of the competitive players switch out with you when they're not playing a match? I mean, it's either that or talking to people during the breaks (if there is any like there was at E3). I SERIOUSLY want to play against your Bayman, Rikuto. :p

I actually saw you MCing at this year's IPL tournament on Youtube, Rikuto. ^^ You and Mystik. When I found the FSD forums, I was like "Holy crap, it's that guy! From ten minutes ago!" You guys did a great job commentating. I spent this morning catching up on some (quite popcorn-worthy) community dramz. I never would have guessed you had any particular opinion on anyone based on your appearance...it was really legit. =) Way to rep the community.

Thanks! I try to keep the community nonsense out of professional streams. The first impressions of any given community should not be "Hey guys check out this guy he's a complete asshole!" Of course that kind of drama has a time and a place, and while most people hate drama certain issues simply have to be taken care of whether its convenient or not.

Sufficed to say... ugh, I really hate that thread.

Which thread is that?

Yeah, NN and Blackula are active in the MK community so I've heard of them hosting tournies and stuff. I live across the street from GMU during breaks so I'll definitely drop by if there's any DoA activity :D Thanks guys!

I don't expect much DoA stuff up in NoVa to be honest, I think Blackula and Winback will probably be the spearheads in hosting DoA stuff in VA, both of which live in SoVa, but its only like a 3 hour drive, and its a pretty legit drive, I liked making it from SoVa to NoVa when I lived there.

Ohh, well I actually go to school near SoVA, so win-win either way XD
Hoping for a good netcode at least so I won't embarass myself if I ever get a chance to go to those locals. At least the training mode is awesome :D

Bro, Blackula is garbage at teaching, but Winback is probably one of the best teachers in the entire FGC. It took literally two weeks of him and Tom Brady teaching me Tekken and I started placing top 3 in locals (and VA is VERY Tekken heavy.) I messaged Winback last night just to talk about VF and he instantly started teaching me Akira. I asked him about Team Yagami in KoF and he gave me 2 pages on each character and how to play them. The Virginia community, for the most part, is VERY accepting and good at teaching. We've got two players who are easily seen as the worst at EVERY game, but they are cool people, so we loved having them at every event (except one of them got mad salty and threw his stick a lot.) There are trolls, but for the most part, its a great community that'll help you grow a lot more than the online scene to be honest. If you're on facebook you can also join the group where they post everything "SoVA: Fighting Game Community"

Ah well, if I'm going to comment on anything, I may as well perform a minimal required social interaction and introduce myself -I take it this is the place. (This is actually hard for me -- I'll try to flesh out my profile as I go)

Awesome site by the the way MrWah!:)

Since I'm not likely to post frequently, “I'ma” take this opportunity to to get it all out now – lol

I've been a Hardcore DOA fan and compulsive content reader since“Hardcore”, which I believe was a launch title for PS2. I've probably read more posts on more forums than damn near anyone short of Rikuto. (holy shit, I can't believe you've kept that name and been so active for so long – I remember you from when you were just an angry little boy – lol- <jk> no offence – mad props in fact!)

Tekken 2 got me hooked on fighting games first. <I've cleaned up considerably since then> and
DOA2:HC was the first DOA I owned, but I also played the first one. I recall it was a frequent rental and I thought it was hard as far as fighters went. Loved danger zones. (I played Jun, and later Leifang)

I've mostly only been good at getting my head booted in 2D, but I was slightly better in 3D. btw– There's a very clear distinction in my mind between a 3D fighter and a 2D fighter that's presented in 3D, so obviously, I'm not a big fan of tracking and limited sidestep.
(aside:)I thought Soul Blade was f'ing brilliant and Bushido Blade is still one of my favourites. I can't believe that game isn't on PSN :/ (end aside)

I started looking for info in order to no longer loose to my buddies mr.SuperCheese and fastRandom . Soon enough I found people discussing play.

(Andy Griffith voice) data wasn't cheap when I was growing up and I'd learned only to comment when I had something to add. The lord gave us two ears and one mouth. They should be used in that proportion.

So I read comments and tried to learn.

I've watched the progression of the DOA community for a pretty long time and I feel managed to learn a bit along the way, so now that I'm actually trying to introduce myself, I digress and try to get everything out all at once.. I feel I know many of you better than I have a right to. Forgive me if I sound familiar in future.

I read Ghaleon's post linking to the article he says Tecmo responded to not actually sure how to post link -looks it up in help in the SBa thread and responded to it as well. I thought “community?!” so I figured I could at least be a member, if not part of it too.

It's taken me near forever to get this wall out, and that's from trying to keep it brief. I ramble, because I find it difficult to convey my intent, I edit compulsively and generally someone else will make my intended comment anyway, soon enough.

In all likelyhood I will be an infrequently active community member, but I do feel you all deserve to know who I am and hopefully this gives you some sense of that, because I will be following the conversation.

I'm better in person (if you've a good ear for sarcasm or surprisingly enthusiastic genuine support);)

My deepest heartfelt gratitude to anyone who worked through all of that.

Now, I think I may go cry about Leifang's damage output.

Oh and one more thing: It's: They're over there doing their thing. And yes, I do know this won't make a difference.

Hello FSD members,

I'm new to the forum (obviously) but not new to DOA. I have been playing the game since day one which was back...jesus...16 years ago. I remember getting a Japanese copy of the game and just played the hell out of it.

A member here referred me to FSD, and I really like what I see. It's nice to see the TN support as well. I live in London. So once DOA 5 is out, Londoners will probably see me in some DOA events.

Well, that's it I guess... Oh yeah, I am a Christie and Tina player. And now that Akira is in DOA 5, I'm happy that my main from VF is in as well.

Excite mode is most certainly on.

Alright, after a week or so of lurking it's time to register on the forum for myself. Name's Zeo.

The first time I ever got played a DOA game was back in either 2000 or 2001 when I first got DOA2 and while I wasn't playing the game competitively up until 4, I've always been following the series since 2, getting 3 on Xbox, followed by getting 4 on 360 some years later.

My favorite DOA character is Ein, followed by Hitomi and then Kasumi. I took a 4-5 year break from DOA until I heard about 5 and that hyped me for the series once more which brought me back to DOA4 to get back into the swing of DOA and get ready for 5. Since then I've been playing very frequently.

I discovered this site a few weeks back and have been lurking around until finally deciding to get on myself. So yeah, I hope to be around and get along fine with you guys, maybe even play some games come september. All aboard the DOA5 hype train.

Oh, lastly my GT is ZeoRebirth, I'm an Ein player and a Hayate in training. Hit me up if you'd like to play, some of you might have played me before, assuming you still DOA4.
