Guys, apparently there will not just be a Final Fantasy VII Remake, but also a Final Fantasy XII remake. FF composers today dropped that bomb during a concert:

Though you should take the "remake" with a grain of salt. It might actually be a remaster, like the HD remaster Final Fantasy X and X-2 recently received.

I'm so glad to have a confirmation. I wonder what decade we can expect to get this in

I'm just slightly worried, that apart from FFXV, which should really be their damn priority right now, they are going on a remake and remaster announcement spree. :/ All recources, that will be taken away from FFXV...

FFXV is probably near completion and/or the teams working on the remake/remasters are a totally different team thus they're making several games at once so not really.

Did we ever talk about World of Final Fantasy or just ignore it, I forget? Did anyone ask for anything like it and how many resources are being used on it that were taken from other games that did get requested? They said they wanted to appeal to children with it so trying to tap into a new demographic I guess? /: Kind of odd to do that with a PS4 game vs something on the 3DS

I also believe that the resources used on other projects are not wasted ones from FFXV (unless you don't consider key people working on certain project rather than others). With a small developer as Team NINJA, where anyway they are able to divide themselves to use such system, this effectively can influence other works, see for example the low care to the PC remake caused in first place from a lack of people busy in other matters. But with something producted in great style from Square-Enix, everything goes along according to a precise planned plan about what and who are needed for the various things. Of course this doesn't avoid eventual human mistakes for miscalculations or different qualities in the titles.

Exactly! It could be a much larger team for XV, if they wouldn't split it constantly or change for example the director. XV suffered for years of a too small team and constant staff changes and thus direction changes. That's why it is in the making for 9 years.

But indipendently from the importance of the FFXV over the other titles, for guarantiing the survival of themselves they need to work contemporarily on more projects scheduled along various years in the future, just like happens for all the major studios (from videogames to cinema). To make the best game of all and then remain still for years would make useless (or maybe deny) all the success realized with it.

About the direction changes this is a trivial matter in optic of the developers beacuse, indipendently from being right or less, this is something that happen because judged necessary. Basically is like if they are saying you that if they would have continued to work with the previous version of the game, they would have completed it before but at the same time the final product would have got a lower quality compared to what they are doing just now (because is implied that they are postponing it for improving it). Of course everyone has his own ideas that canìt be never be right or less in absolute, and of course a change of a director is not a small thing and likely can bring to a total revolution as happened from Versus XIII to XV (at least apparently). We will be able to see if XV will reveal itself a success or less, but neither the time will say ever to us if the previous ideas about the gameplay, characters and story would have worked better than the final version.

Ye, it will probably be XII HD, like similar stuff to what they did with FF X + X-2.
A full remake wouldn't make any sense. °--°

Anyways I was doing this huge post listing everyone id want in a final fantasy warriors list, but it got wiped for some reason.

Suffice to say the full party, villains, some NPCs monsters and summons from each game, as well as the kingdom hearts characters all playable. Characters of the same class can be dealth with the same way Dynasty warriors dealth with people using the same weapons: differing move sets and properties. Like 5 guys use the basic podao sword but they differentiate by one dude using it normally but with finesse, another wielding it two handed and hitting like its a club, another guys has rings in it that cause sound waves, and another's causes wind blades/blasts.

So like, for the multiple dragoons, all technically use pole arms and jumps, but could differentiate like say
Kain Highwind: fights like a traditional "knight", the most straightforward dragoon. A typical Zhao Gun.
Cid Highwind: least skill with the actual lance, but uses tech and airstrikes.
Freya Crescent: highest mobility, fastest dragoon of all, plus most emphasis on the Jump ability (she was shown to simply hurdle towers in game) plus her Musou attack does more damage for every 100 enemies she kills as a throwback to her dragons breath spell. Kinda like Ma Chao.
Oerba Yun Fang: Slowest, more phases on defensive stances and counters, as well as dragonriding. More of a power dragoon like Yu Jin or Guan Yu.

Thoughts?

I'd probably use the Dissidia Duodecim cast with some extra add-ons and edits for boss fights.

FF: Warrior of Light/Garland/Chaos (boss)
FF2: Firion/Emperor/possibly Minwu?
FF3: Onion Knight/Xande/Cloud of Darkness (boss)
FF4: Cecil/Golbez/Kain/Zeromus (boss)
FF5: Bartz/Gilgamesh/Exdeath (boss)
FF6: Terra/Celes/Kefka
FF7: Cloud/Tifa/Sephiroth/maybe Zack?
FF8: Squall/Rinoa/Seifer/Ultimecia (boss)
FF9: Zidane/Kuja/Vivi
FF10: Tidus/Yuna/Seymour
FF11: Prishe/Shantotto/possible boss character?
FF12: Vaan/Gabranth/Balthier
FF13 series: Lightning/Caius
FF14: ???
FF15: Noctis

(I marked boss-fight-only characters with parentheses)
Side series/slightly related charatcers: Ramza/Delita/???

Nah wayyyy bigger roster than that lol

Like for ff2, instead of Onion Knight, the four orphans from the remake.

Ff7, the full party plus the Turks, villains from each game, and Elfe, and the three advent children guys and villains from dirge of Cerberus.

Ff9, full party, plus The three Black Waltzes, Beatrix, the fire snake guardian girl, Lani, Garland, Zidanes full theatre crew(baka, cinna, blank, Marcus, ruby), plus Zorn and Thorn.

Ff13, Lightning, Snow, Hope, Sahz, Vanille, Fang, Jihl, Cid, The pope guy, Sarah, Noel, the four NORA members,
Etc etc

Please bear in mind that, as a first title in the theoretical Final Fantasy Musou series, the roster wouldn't be particularly huge. They'd likely focus on the main characters, with a few all-time faves snuck in to increase sales.

Also, I'm not sure how you could sell Tantalus as playable in a Musou title. The heroes get Trance and full skill sets. Cinna, Marcus and Blank have 3 commands total throughout their playable stints (Attack, Steal, Item) and Baku isn't a major player in the FF9 'verse. Ruby doesn't even fight.

Of the Black Waltzes, only BW3 was memorable.

FF13's Pope guy only fights you as a giant machinegun-faced boss fight. The members of NORA... well, see my comment about Tantalus.

Well the same way any Warriors character is made to fight: make a move set up based on a themed weapon.

Baka is a giant goof with a temper. Fight with a steering wheel from the tantalus.

Blank uses a knife, and is a bit of a badass

Cinna is a cook with a hammer.

Marcus uses a scimitar and is relatively no nonsense

Ruby is a stage performer, so could fight by dancing. Half the dynasty warriors cast didnt fight either but they still were made playable with unique weapons and moves.

From Tantalus, I really just want Blank. Could maybe have the rest of tantalus AS the move set. Same deal with NORA. I just want Lebreau. She uses guns so that's easy enough.

Popularity isn't really an excuse either. I mean I get it wouldn't be huge right off the bat but I wouldn't want it as limited as dissidia either.
