Apparently they didn't freak out enough regarding the Versus CPU option... :/

thats probably the fucking Extra mode dude.

god forbid something gets released early for those that want it. for everyone else? fuck em. they can either wait or fuck off to a different game.

this version wasn't made for them and they would have known that had they did one ounce of research.

You can look at it the other way around too:
Do you really think it's fair to let the uninformed casual majority pay (60$!!) for an unfinished game, so that the "pros" can get their game early? They could have called and marketed it as an Early Access and they could've priced it lower. That would have been fair for all, no?

Also, I am an example for a very well informed casual gamer and even I found out that an against the CPU option in Versus was missing just one or two days from release in some internet forum while I had the game preorderd for at least half a year already. Everyone was caught off guard by that.

thats probably the fucking Extra mode dude.

What "Extra" mode are you talking about?

i could careless about the uniformed masses, they're uninformed because they dont take five seconds to do any research. then they complain when they wasted 60$ bucks. in this age of information theres no excuse if you are able to go online and complain about how you were ripped off then you can use google for a second to make sure your purchase is worth it.

never mind Extra battle looks like something quite....different

In this age we have companies outright deceiving the consumer with unfinished and buggy games and review embargos that make sure the consumer stays uninformed until the game hits the shelves.

Oh, this Extra mode...? Why all the stupid extra modes when the most basic modes everyone expects to be in a fighting game are missing? Yeah, that's also the age we are living in. >__>

deceiving is not the same as "shit went wrong close to our deadline" and in most cases they're fixed up in a week or so. besides thats just more reason to stay informed its also neither new nor exclusive to games.

dude that looks way cooler than some boring arcade mode.

Just refund the game and wait until June. This is when SFV is actually a game.

Mind you, I'm fucking loving it.

Fighting/action games need to stop using Unreal Engine if people want to keep complaining about shadows. Unreal has never been good in that department and probably never will be until the engine is finally developed with shadowing in mind.

Keep in mind the Capcom Cup starts at Final Round in one month, if the game were to be delayed until then competitors wouldn't really have time to get ready for it and all Final Round would consist of for commentary is "WE GOT COMBOS GET HYPE!" (example Lupe Fiasco vs. Daigo).
The game was pushed out with basic online and offline mutliplayer in mind for the competition. The more casual side of the game (which the vast majority of reviewers and players are) is coming out sometime in March and if Capcom were to wait until March then no commentators would have any decent knowledge of the game beyond two to three weeks of game time as opposed to the month that players have to put out information and discoveries. Why did person X use special Y? Would you rather hear "Probably felt it was a good idea" or "Because with Z strike they have # advantage and are fishing to get a Counter." A quiet educated commentator is much better to listen to than a loud guessing one.
Capcom took a risk with it being out "Casually Unfinished" but their mind is in the right place because they already put out a schedule for the biggest fighting tournament in the FGC before the game even launched.
If DOA6 were to be released in the same way (poor single player, extremely common Day 1 issues if servers were introduced, no costume customization, PC version online, but balanced roster, training mode, and working offline and online multiplayer) for Battle Royal 20XX starting in one month with features to be added in a close to launch time period I would still be happy with what I've bought as the game was launched to get the competitive side of the game going and because I am a competitor in tournaments and I need that damn month to learn to play the game (pretending we get Battle Royal that big). Fighting games take time to evolve characters into their niches, a couple weeks isn't nearly enough time to figure the ins and outs of them. Hell, it was only a week ago after four betas that things finally made sense about why Ken kept getting nerfed when it seemed like he lacked a lot of close range tools everyone else had.

Yes they took a risk putting out a competitive game and saying the more casual side of the game will be out soon, get over it and return your copy if you are so offended that you aren't a competitive player going into the Capcom Cup.

$15,000 is a lot of money to give away after two weeks from release just because the game had to wait for a casual mode to appear.

Gotta say, I'm fucking in love with this game. Fighting is fluid, matches are fluid, I haven't been disconnected at all today or yesterday. DOA is taking a big backseat for me right now. If anyone wants to play, my Fighter ID is Vesperz. :)

Is Alex even gonna be available before that capcom cup?
Most likely, yes. I think Ono said Alex was gonna be available in the first two weeks of March on Twitter. I doubt people would be playing Alex at a high standard anyway from the amount of training time he has left until the event.

If I was Capcom, with all the extreme negativity going on right now, I would launch an epic Alex reveal trailer right now and make clear that he would be for free for everyone that just played through the story mode. He's basically an unlockable after the story and that is imho indeed a good deal and like a thanks to the fans who got and played the game.

In the meantime overall review scores are sinking and sinking...

79% on Metacritic
78% on Opencritic
And absolutely abysmal user ratings...

This will haunt the game forever.

Those are actually "good" scores, just not great.

Not really
Either somebody will buy it without researching or they'll go to research and see that it's fixed.

Not really what?
Did I say no one will buy the game because of mediocre reviews? I said, it will haunt the game (as in people won't easily forget and even less so the internet) like it did with Driveclub, Destiny, AC Unity and so on.
Also people quickly researching the game will land on review sites or Youtube video reviews. Will these then out of date reviews and scores be updated as time goes by and the game is being fixed? 99% won't! These reviews and scores are there for good. Capcom won't be able to wipe the slate clean after the game got updated because this time there unfortunately won't be several versions of the game but just this one.

Those are actually "good" scores, just not great.
In gaming 70s scores are not good. They are mediocre. Especially for a main title of one of the most famous and revered videogame series.

The scores will improve as the game improves or the people who like it make their voices heard. You want to talk about shit launches just look DmC which is now sitting at 4 stars across the board despite dissapointed fans doing their best to utterly ruin that game.

Yeah it still has shit sales but that's more because of what it is than its quality. with SFV it's still able to piggy back off of its franchises success as opposed to DmC which would have done FAR better being a new IP.

As much as I like Alex I don't think his trailer will help, too many trolls would point at the price tag at the end of the video when your right it's practically a gimmie. No, what needs to happen is for them to finish building and stabilizing the platform THEN they can start adding extra stuff to it.

$15,000 is a lot of money to give away after two weeks from release just because the game had to wait for a casual mode to appear.

I would eviscerate your entire post as you clearly have no idea what the real problem is but I'll focus on the two in particular:

1. Capcom's main goal isn't just to bolster it's tourney scene but to try and get numbers similar to League of Legends and other MOBAs and for that they need more casuals to become competitors. How is most casuals going to care to wait until the game becomes complete to continue caring? The game is getting savaged and the only saving grace is fanboys or people who is just plain in love with Capcom who still bought the game Day 1 and knew what was going to happen. And don't use the "If they can't wait 2 weeks, then that's their problem" mentality, the game should not have been rushed this badly period.

2. If Dead or Alive 6 went as half assed as Street Fighter V, the game and the series would be DEAD. So I hope you would be happy playing the final Dead or Alive because the niche audience would be so broken no one would want a game as barebones as Street Fighter V. Hell, Street Fighter V is only able to escape it's fate BECAUSE it's Street Fighter, Dead or Alive has absolutely nothing like that, not even Tekken has anything like that. No other fighting game would have been able to survive being so fucked up past Street Fighter, let's get that straight.

The scores will improve as the game improves or the people who like it make their voices heard. You want to talk about shit launches just look DmC which is now sitting at 4 stars across the board despite dissapointed fans doing their best to utterly ruin that game.

You guys keep being so optimistic but that's not how this is going to work. The main casual base is already turned off by how terribly the game's launch is and the fact that they have to wait till June for the complete game and Arcade Mode and VS. CPU is still up in the air...you seriously believe that the game's rep will be fixed in a few months? How about not at all and it will pretty much be at the same level as SF4 and past SF games are at? I'm not saying that there is people who will wait until June to buy it but who is seriously going to wait 5 months until then and simply just play something else or stop caring? And how many of those will buy it New rather than Used or wait until a Steam sale for the game to buy it even cheaper?
TL;DR. This game's reputation has been signed and sealed by Capcom and Sony's need to rush the game and it's now a permanent black eye to the Street Fighter name and it's not recovering it in the slightest.

Wait, what?! That has been my point the entire time... >__>
Add arcade and against CPU in Versus (another story mode and gimmicky modes aren't really necessary for a while then) and the game is instantly much more complete. Why they left these two basic modes out is still beyond me. They practically have both modes already and they deliberately left them out.

No our arguments were over its current state and if should be allowed to release. i beleived those that want pure online play can buy it if they want and you wanted it delayed so they could add the single player stuff.

@Xhominid you can't counter my optimism with pessimism. The realism approach says yes it will effect the game's sales negatively but it's not going to kill SF5.its way to strong of a franchise to be stopped by stumbling outside the starting gate.
