Yeah its hard to believe them since they are obviously going to paint their game with the best light possible. I'm just hoping squares need to have the best graphics of a generation fuels them to make it look better.

Doesn't really bother me, I mean it looks very good as is and that's good enough for me. As long as the gameplay is good/awesome it could literally be a ps2 game I'd still play it.

Can you please not say that out loud? THEY WILL HEAR you and do exactly that and it will be your fault. .__.

Yeah if they didn't add anti aliasing the graphics are still definitely good enough to released the game. And more than anything the gameplay is what's got me excited to play it.

I wonder if its anyone from squares job to research how fans are responding to the game and have seen what we've said. Thinking of which I wonder if people from TN have seen this forum?!

They usually do. They are interested in what fans have to say. And, yes, several TN employees know of this forum and read it. I sometimes wished I was a little more reserved with my critique. But I'm just so passionate about DOA. >__< TN, do you hear me? You can still hire me in the future even though I offended you all at one point. XD

Lol I'm sure they know to make the floor textures better in doa6 then. That's cool to think that they check around this forum.

They didn't /haven't listened to what Ein fans want. Costumes or gameplay wise.

I highly doubt Square would do that lol they'd have a HUGE backlash from many gamers both in the west and Japan. Hell they got criticised in Japan for making the demo hard (even though it isn't actually hard at all?)

Really the Japanese thought the demo was to hard? I haven't played it so I don't know but it's surprising considering it used to be jrpgs got dumbed down before being brought to the west. I thought they'd like the game being hard. Personally I just hope the games challenging and not annoyingly hard/to easy. I'd expect it to have a post game with tougher enemy's though like the adamantoise and titans missions from XIII.

There were monsters that could down you very easily but its REALLY hard to actually die and get a game over... Also potions are full heals when downed and Ignis constantly heals you in battle. And THEN there's a mechanic that lets you regenerate HP. With all this stuff its impossible to make the game hard its Incredibly easy.

To explain what I mean by downed, in XV when you reach 0HP you don't die, instead you become downed like in Gears of War or something and you can then either heal via a potion or have a teammate revive you. And you tale ALOT of hits before you die for real.

How about we enjoy some bullshots of the game and how the game will only look in the inevitable PC version down the line? XD

Yeah that sounds like there's a lot of safety nets to save you from game over.

And what beautiful bull shots!

I'm hoping there's a hard mode that turns some of that off/tones it down. Or something in the options maybe make it so you can only take a few hits when downed before dying? Since you need to be 0HP to be able to use Summons.

Many Japanese found the game too difficult and inaccessible because FFXV borrows heavily from Western RPG mechanics and many Japanese Final Fantasy fans just didn't know where to go and what to do. Only a small percentage of them even finished the demo. I don't remember the number but it was alarming. Something like 20 % only finished it or something like that. XD

Wait?! You can only summon them at 0hp. I guess that's okay I guess as a last resort.

Wow that's crazy! I hope that doesn't mean it won't sell well.

Also explore everywhere. They did a solid job of making sure to hide some goodies in places you have to jump/drop down to, and some others off the beaten path.

Even at the very beginning. Like, in the prologue.

Thanks for the advice!

Except it doesn't... The demo literally just Lightning Returns' mechanics without stagger and in real-time they even improved the perfect guard system with a counter attack. And doesn't the demo flat out tell you where to go several times?

Except that was exactly what Tabata explained the problem of Japanese players apparently was. They simply didn't know what to do, even though there were of course more than enough hints and several ways to get to the finish line. He talked about it in detail in one of the ATRs.
Also, please keep in mind not many gamers and even Final Fantasy fans played Lightning Returns. It was the least selling of the XIII triology with about 800k in total. XIII-2 sold 3.1 million and the original XIII sold 6.6 million.

Wow that's crazy! I hope that doesn't mean it won't sell well.

Tabata didn't seem to be worried much...though he was surprised.

Surely there must be open world games in Japan?! I'm shocked they didn't know what to do because I've watched videos of the demo and it seems pretty crystal clear what you've to do. I guess they'll just have to get used to it.

Here's one of the graphs Tabata showed when talking about the demo:

FFXV_complete.jpg

20% of all Japanese didn't understand the goal of the game, 14% thought it was too difficult , 20% didn't like the characters enough to finish the story and just 5% were fully content with the demo. Europe and the US saw things completely different than Japanese. XD

Ah! I coincidently found Tabata's remark about antialiasing:

#5: “The jaggies. But the drop in framerate is even more concerning.”
Complaints about Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae’s framerate came primarily from North America and Europe, according to Square Enix. This issue was #5 globally, but higher up if one were only to tally surveys from the West.

Tabata’s response: “So, jaggies and framerates are two separate issues, but in regards to the demo, we weren’t able to implement anti-aliasing in the demo. That’s why the jaggies stood out a bit, but anti-aliasing will be implemented in the full game. The amount of jaggies will be reduced, so for the demo, we apologize. They shouldn’t be in the full game, so please rest assured. In terms of whether it can be immediately implemented… We’re currently in the midst of determining how we’d address it and the engineer working on the real-time rendering is looking into this.
