When does the soul calibur series take place have they mentioned the exact date? I feel like I remember something about the 17th century.
SC1-4 take place in the late 1500s, while SC5 takes place in 1607, which the game does really well reflecting imo. The clothes seem alot more detailed and advanced practically speaking than in SC4, where the designs were fantasy and not very battle practical.

Oh, I'm slow! I just realized us Africans were still in Africa around this time, so really African Americans didn't exist at all.

Well if you wanna be technical, Africans are STILL in Africa XD

Somewhere around there. Feudal and mideival eras. A good century or two before america was even close to being a thing.

Speaking about the soundtrack of Tekken games in the Tekken thread got me thinking about the other Namco fighting series Soul Calibur. I have to admit the soundtrack of the Soul Calibur games never grabbed my attention as much as Tekken did and I can't think of as many memorable pieces of music but the one that instantly comes to mind is this!

This is definitely my favourite piece of music in the Soul Calibur series and it really picks up at 0:43. That's my favourite part of it.

My all time favorite is from SC4:
I literally listen to once each day, its like you're giving up hope but the song has it's unique way of telling you to go onward, it really suited Sophie to me despite her being greek. The song also gives me hope that another SC will be made for some reason. :p

Yeah I really hope there's another soul calibur too! I want to see all the characters with new designs again like Amy, Cassandra and Ivy. I'm listening to some SC songs right now and there actually is more memorable ones than I thought that just past my mind.

Edit: This was one of my favourites since Ivy was and still is in my top 3 favourite characters.

That's like, one of my favorite songs in the entire series. I would always play on hall of the warrior god due to it, calmed me down and helped me concentrate. I loved watching Cassandra kinda move to the rhythm.

Soul calibur 5 also had a ton of great songs, zwei and kiliks themes being some of my favorites.

I think when it comes to best song in the series though, super khan session Li long theme wins.

That. stage. was. Awesome! I always practiced there, it was just so extravagant. Another great piece:
I can't with this one, it makes me flush with euphoria with how epic, traditional, and beautiful it is. Definitely the song befitting of a stoic ninja.

I liked watching Casandra, Xianghua, and Sophitia move to it, it just looked so peaceful. Whoever composed the song needs to return, I need more traditional but powerful pieces like this in my life. And don't even get me started on SC3's Radiant Souls...best character creation theme ever. XD

Yeah the soundtrack for V I feel was definitely one of its strong points. Also does anyone get a serious pirates of the Caribbean theme feel from the first one?

Amy I mean Viola's theme from V is my favourite from that game but there's some close ones.

I did, the music sounded quite fitting for a pirate, case in point Cervantes. Viola's two themes were both awesome, the composers did a great job setting up the whole gypsy tone.

Lol yeah I liked how she literally used her crystal ball to fight. Talking about all this has got me more hyped for SC6 than I've been in ages!

Same here, I normally don't like waiting, but SC is one of my favorite franchises that's actually worth waiting for. I'm hoping this silence means they're working really hard, and keeping it hush hush from the public.

I'm staying optimistic as well that they are working on it since if it turned out they hadn't started that would just be depressing. So for the time being with the lack of knowledge we have of a potential sequel we'll just have to hope four news at some E3 type event. Maybe Tokyo game show even though that's a long while to wait.

It sucks its taking this long. I just want Sc 6 to come out so that i can main siegfried and wreak havoc with him. I was considered one of the great siegfried players at one time but sadly that was so many years ago, maybe i can make a comeback in SC 6

I like that one and her other theme.

My favorite track from this game is definitely the story mode version of Elysium's theme... and specifically that version because of the beginning.

Like the amazing graphics the Soul Calibur series always had amazing music too. I wished they would have swapped out Tekken 7 for SC6. Who knows when we will be hearing from that game...*sigh*

By the way, didn't Soul Calibur 3 overall have the most awe-inpiring stages of the series?

Even on PS2 they looked amazing... It has better ground textures than Last Round on PS4. XD

Actually, Soul Calibur has had the same lead composer throughout all the games: Junichi Nakatsuru.

Really? Lol, I always thought it changed. The themes and stages were all great, especially the SC2 Labyrinth and Egyptian tombs, such epic stages for their time!

My favourite stages in the series would be -

SC3 - Ivy's mansion.

SC4 - That circus where your fighting on a metal seesaw.

SC5 Cervantes ship when its raining.

And I've completely forgotten what it is but I think it was Raphael's castle been laid siege to by a mob of angry villagers which was very Dracula like. And this one Aldo has the theme "endless warfare" with it so maybe this is my favourite my SC3.
