You've basically just proved my point of how pessimistic a person you are lol. The ratio of negative to positive commentary from you is astounding TBH. Why do you bother playing DOA5 or come to this site if you just seem to hate & shit all over everything from DOA5 onwards? You're wasting your time and risk bringing other, more positive people down to your level. It's not healthy dude. Do yourself a favour and pursue something you like.
With regards to TN's treatment of DLC for DOA5LR. All things considered their treatment has been fair if you actually view things from Koei-Tecmo's perspective. I.e. a business perspective. DOA5 is currently 4 years and 2 months old approximately. The game started out fairly small and had a modest launch on PS3 & 360. In terms of content received, we got periodic DLC costume packs in sets of 4 for around $5. The most notably thing we received was the Zack Island DLC stage for FREE. It also came with a balance patch that added in quite a bit of new moves.
Less than a year after DOA5's release, we received DOA5U, which more or less served as a better form of TN's vision for DOA5. We received new stages, characters, increased movesets, technically a new game engine, and probably my favourite, custom music. DLC costumes were changed to solo units for about $2 each, with essentially a new set every month, continuing even to this day. I will admit, not all the sets were exactly "winners", and the stretch in 2014 where we only received fetish rubbish was brutal, but you have to keep in mind that DOA5 did not sell well in terms of units sold. KT needs to justify the continued support of DOA5, which, IMO, has not run its course yet. The $$$$ that KT has made from DLC costumes allows them to both justify supporting the game, but also the offline competitive circuit as well in the form of pot bonuses, the Battle Royal and the DOA Festivals for example (but of course you don't give a fuck about that sort of stuff amrite?). I will also point out that we received 2 more FREE stages in DOA5U, 3 new additional characters and numerous subsequent balance patches.
To maintain the support of DOA5 heading into the nextgen, TN ported DOA5U to PS4, XBone & PC (even though this version is balls aside from being a mod haven) in the form of DOA5LR and attempted to increase the attention of the franchise by collaboration with other franchises such as Senran Kagura, Falcom/Legend of Heroes, Fairy Tail or Attack on Titan to name a few. And of course I can't forget arguably one of the more notable collaborations in the form of SNK allowing Mai Shiranui to join the DOA5LR cast along with a few classic costumes for some of the DOA cast. Along with this, DOA5LR also added a couple more stages & characters, added Fireworks & Azuchi for FREE, added an Attack on Titan stage along with balance patches to go along with the more major releases.
One of arguably the best forms of support that TN has delivered to DOA5 has been the fan design costume contests since around 2014. This in itself is a freakin' amazing thing! Do you know how awesome it must feel to see a costume you designed in DOA5?
@VAND1TA's DOA5LR Pai Chan costume is one of the best things to happen to her for example. I give TN major props for allowing this level of fan support. Yet all I see in this forum is bitching and negativity. The reason I still play DOA5LR is because the game is fun, and I enjoy & appreciate TN's support and respect their efforts. I have yet to get bored of the game because there's enough depth to always find something new or refine certain techniques. DOA5LR also looks pretty damn sharp on a 4K monitor with the PS4 Pro, which is awesome. Game does not look dated in the least compared to most fighting games (except those blasted floor textures LOL).
Anyway do you know what the best part about DOA5LR's DLC is? YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT!
