DOA6 Nyo-Tengu and Phase 4 Revealed

After being teased months ago as extra characters for Dead or Alive 6, Nyo-Tengu and Phase 4 finally have an official trailer from Team NINJA that reveals their designs and some new moves and changes as well.

The trailer begins with Ryu Hayabusa practicing in Miyabi with his trusty Dragon Sword. Nyo stalks Hayabusa, fully aware that he slayed Bankotsubo and challenges him to a fight! Her motives are unclear, but it seems like she looks to avenge Bankotsubo, and is fascinated that Hayabusa can defeat something as powerful as a Tengu.

As soon as the fight starts you see Tengu open up with the classic P+K followed up by her 6T with a brand new throw extension. Hayabusa retaliates with some awesome Ninpo moves that Shimbori has showed us in demonstrations before, and his throw and P string from Ongyoin. Nyo-Tengu's reveal is also complete with her Break Blow, Fatal Stun and Fatal Rush that might have a Hiten stance option of some kind after the last hit.

Team NINJA shows more moves from Nyo's list that come from her complicated and unique 'Tengu-do' fighting style. She has a steep learning curve because of her multitude of situational throws. The slaps and twirling power-bomb shown in the trailer are usable only when she is in the air, and her foe is grounded a particular way (i.e. legs facing Nyo upward, or Nyo facing the side of the foe).

Because of the requirements and timing to pull off one of these throws, it can take loads of practice to find the right tricks and setups to make it possible. Most of the time an opponent can safely get up before she has the chance, but if they take a moment too long Nyo can swoop down on her prey.

Nyo's Hiten stance can be activated at the end of many basic moves and strings in DOA, and the stance activation gives Nyo a brief moment in the air to prepare her next move. Whether you input an additional throw or move, the choice is entirely up to you with a risk for reward mentality in most cases. This unique stance sets her apart from Bankotsubo in DOA2 and DOA4, and offers an extra layer of complexity to her character.

Phase 4 is shown next, and while she is not an evil character, she is controlled by M.I.S.T and Bayman is choosing to fight her in the enormous M.I.S.T lab stage shown for the first time. This lab lacks environment and it's boxed in, but will provide fighters with a completely new experience with drops and plenty of opportunities for ceiling damage as shown by Phase 4 with her launch throw.

You see a lot of of the same strings, jabs, kicks, setups and air-grab with Phase 4 that you were used to, but might notice a more seamless and faster transitional change with Tenfu and Chifu. Even Kwiggle was known to drop combos with Phase 4 in competitive tournaments because of the timing on her combos, and this change could also help out with her safety. Even if this sounds bad for her opponents, matches will be far less confusing for both fighters with an improved Phase 4.

Nyo-Tengu and Phase 4 will have their own chunks of story as mentioned in our interview with Yohei Shimbori, and most players be should happy about this as Team NINJA did such a great job of implementing DOA5s DLC characters. Now that they've listened to the pleas of their fighters, Team NINJA looks to perfect their gameplay going into DOA6 this March!

I cant wait to see what new strings people come up with Phase's new neutral teleport. She looked very promising in this trailer. Was there anything new about Nyo outside of that chain grab they showed??

Nyotengu looks good… as expected. Seems they “sexed up” some Animations further as well.
Phase looks crazy with the teleports and the effect looks pretty nice too.

Wonder if this Lab will be a separate stage, or somehow connect to Zero.

edit: We have the official trailer now (JP)

queen of twirling. queen of chicken wings. queen of spreading hayabusa's legs while tastefully censoring his 'grand power', come thru nyotenguuu. :p

she doesn't want to sauté bayman's stroganoff, but... (she will in this trailer), come on phase4 teleport us to mars! she's still feeling her organization xiii circa KH2 fantasy and finna give bayman another scar using her stylish yet sensible **bant heels. werk.

i'm so excited to see these two in action. a hefer was expecting an iconic nyotengu trailer tho. this mashup is cute, it's just not on the same level as her doa5u debut. that was everything. ah well. and i thought they were gonna surprise us all and show us you could access the pond now but womp womp, she didn't dunk him in the water. category is... awesome trailer but add a missed opportunity. ultimately everything looks good regardless. we get to fight somewhere inside mist again it seems, corridor to lab 3? cool stuff. come on doa6!!!

**issa portmanteau of boots and pants. bants. get into it. and yes it's a thing, whatchu gon do?

The analysis is up for Nyo and Phase 4. I really like some of Nyo's changes. Glad to see that her opener P+K returned... and I'm totally digging the extension to her 6T throw.

@NoctTengu if you are worried about it being an entire throw, I wouldn't bother. There is long enough delay to choose an input after the slap.

Forgot to mention that Nyo-Tengu and Phase 4 biographies have been released.

There is nothing new to Nyo's story line from what I mentioned in the story. She's interested in Hayabusa. Her favorite food is listed, but Team NINJA still keeps a lot of biography totally blank/unknown. Though Phase 4's is a bit more interesting:

Phase 4 is a man-made weapon that still retains the memories and personality of the one she was cloned from. Her codename is "Kasumi Alpha Phase 4," and "Phase 4" indicates the final stage of the clone weapon production of M.I.S.T.'s Project Alpha. This first prototype model had already passed the operational test in a warzone, and has entered the mass-production stage.

Team NINJA's DOA6 tweet and Phase 4 biography insinuate that there will be an army of Phase 4 possibly Raidou robotos as well judging by the NiCO reveal.
