Koei Tecmo Dropped the Ball Hard with Recent DLC

It's time for the Dead or Alive community to bear arms against Koei-Tecmo for the absurd implementation of leasing hair colors through exchange of REAL money through the currency of 'Premium Tickets' exclusively on the PlayStation 4 console. As it stands thousands of people have expressed their disdain for the hair renting feature and with very little care or concern from Koei Tecmo games. Today we have received an extremely deceitful ticket response to a customer from Koei Tecmo games and it appears that KT gives not one damn about the feedback they have received.

If you decide to continue reading this story. You will be disturbed. You will see Koei Tecmo for who they really are. Hell you might even cry.

For this particular situation DO NOT blame Team NINJA or Master. With the proof we have now this is definitely the doing of the big wigs at Koei Tecmo games, and their response was to undermine the customer's intelligence and play stupid with the situation assuming their fans will eventually shut up and take it like they always do. They even gave the customer a DEAD-LINE for how much longer they could complain about the ticket situation before this player's feedback would be completely shut down. Since this issue has yet to be reported to the mainstream press Koei Tecmo is actually bullying & deceiving the people that support this game and seeing them only as a number and not one of their fighters.

Koei Tecmo also admits in this disgusting response that the feature was never a bug, and that they intended to keep it this way despite the fan OUTBURST on social media. Despite EVERY OTHER FIGHTING GAME HAVING THIS OPTION FOR FREE. Unless we continue to raise our voices they are going to plow fans over. Please players for the sake of this community, for the sake of keeping it alive we implore you to submit a ticket to Koei Tecmo expressing your anger for this money draining feature.

As many players have mentioned you can implement hair colors into the PC version for free after jumping through a few loop holes, and in the face of that it wouldn't surprise players if Koei Tecmo put a stop to PC modders so that they can protect the moral integrity of their scam - the problem for them there is the modders I've talked to don't think Koei Tecmo is smart enough to find a way to stop it.

If you explore the comments section of this Tweet you will quickly see that not one single person is into this idea or wants to pay for the coloring options, but some in general are actually willing to pay one dollar (or ticket) per color which would still give Team NINJA an outrageous 16 dollars per player if we were just allowed to keep each color across the board for all characters.

This feature is so tacked on so, so immoral and wrong that even players that normally defend DOA at every turn are going nuts. We must sound off on these issues before the imbecile big wigs at Koei-Tecmo continues to rip us all off for everything we are worth. I've never seen Matt Ponton, the creator of FSD, this furious and he has been supporting Dead or Alive longer than any of us.

This is not fair... this is not right and the only way we can defeat this from getting MUCH worse in the future is rally as a community to take these big wig con artists out at Koei Tecmo once and for all. Remember how PS4 players were required to download Season Passes in the beginning and couldn't individually download? This reason was to bamboozle the biggest player pool for the launch of the game, and the releasing hair colors first on PS4 is proof of that.

Do not support this color scheme scam unless you want a completely fucked game in the future where all DOA is is the SIMS or MAPLE STORY or an MMO.

see, this very hair color shit is just a fuse that finally explodes whole community. If you ask me is it really a big deal?My answer is no,cause KT might change it in future or whatever.
The point is,after DOA6 released, whole DOA families had gained too much disappointment to this game.Though some of DOA fans persisted in protecting the game but I can guarantee you guys most of hardcore DOA players ARE NOT OK with the game.
And now this time,KT enrages last funboys that protecting them all along. When these guys turning their love to hate, lol things gonna be interesting.

In my opinion the best way to get back at KT would be to revert competiton to DOA5LR. Listen: LR is the better game, doesnt have DLC anymore and like DOA6 its competition is not supported by KT anymore. in doing that the community would be sending a very clear message do KT about the state of DOA6 right now. DOA6 is the Smash Brawl of DOA series.

That Smash Brawl of DOA series got me lmao.Great analogy.

I've been thinking the same way about seeing DoA5LR as a potential tournament-favorite next to DoA6, in the same way KoF98 or SF3TS are. But then I'm guessing it's better to give DOA3.1 or DOA3++ that title anyways. I don't exactly know how other FG communities manage to keep the sparks going like that for classics within their respective series, like SF3TS, Melee, or 98/2002, to the point where they still get people to show up for tourneys, but maybe we need some of that juice for DoA too.

DoA whales are different in the sense that status isn’t their main motivation for spending. They really love customizing the characters and are emotionally invested in a different way than most fans. Not in the way that you are attached to your main because you’ve been playing as them for years. It’s probably similar to the way most pet owners feel about their animal companions. There are not many games that cater to their needs, so they are loyal to the brand.

Also some people with a lot of disposable income might not even think about the cost of microtranstions.

Finally there are players out there that must own all available content.

I can admit I may have some of those tendencies myself XD but not to the point where I become an idiot, lol. I concede that there may be people literally treating this game like a waifu dressup simulator, maybe just buying every DLC to see how it looks on the girls to take to spectator mode and that pictures, I guess. But what makes that even more crazy for me is that they have two better options: just get the game on PC and mod it to death or get DoAX Venus Vacation which is better for what they want in every way. I haven't played much VV but can someone tell me what DoA6 could possibly have over VV in terms of being a waifu simulator?

Also, one key word you said there is "own". They must "own" everything. Renting isn't owning, so you'd think they'd be the most upset among us and at the forefront of the backlash when it comes to being forced to rent hair colours for their waifus. Not saying your wrong in your response to me, you're probably right, I'm just extrapolating further.

It would be a nightmare for the TO to run a DOA3 tournament. No modern console can run it unlike 3s or KOF98UM and DOA5 is recent and is as good if not better than 3 and many DOA fans still play 5 even with 6 out.

Another thing I've thought about is that current KT needs to seriously get on rereleasing and preserving their classics. They did it a bit before during the late Tecmo days with DoA1U and DoA2U and then later with DoAD in a way, but they really need to get on the ball the way other devs are, like SNK making KOF98UM and 2002UM or just rereleasing DoA2U, DoA3, and DoA4 on modern consoles with modern online features like Capcom and SNK do with games like 3S and MotW.

But yeah, at least DoA5's spark should be kept alive, if nothing else.

@inochinagi

You are right, I don't know why they'd play a fighting game instead of a gacha game. Unless we are talking about the ryona crowd xD

As to why they are against the backlash, I think some of them fear that negative press would kill the game. "DoA 6 isn't profitable. Don't complain or KT will cancel its development." And I don't have the information required to formulate a counter argument. I’m just a dude in the middle of nowhere. I can only assume that KT isn't going to go under if they are forced to make good quality content.

game gets to have the worst input lag AND netcode for a fighting game: nobody bats an eye

paid hair for whales? So you have chosen war. Sound the alarm. Seize the means of production. This blasphemous transgression will not soon be forgotten. Let the riots commence. The revolution has just begun. A riot is the language of the unheard bla bla all publishers are scum and predatory like that and getting worse with time what you gonna do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just don't buy 'em lmaooo

you seem to be forgetting how long it took for the to get lobbies and how the game was in an alpha state upon release with all it's fun graphical errors and god knows whatever bugs i'm forgetting about.

Let's say a player preps to buy a ton of tickets to fill out their colors for characters. It's not like they get the hair color notification before they buy the bundle. This deceptively targeted player anticipation for this feature. I don't care if you are rich enough to buy infinite colors for the rest of your life this feature could trick anyone that isn't paying proper attention.

And if your save file is corrupted or deleted I hope you really aren't willing to pay for them all over again. That's just sad, man.

They have people demand the TO put the game in, and then actually show up to the events to play it.

No one's stopping anyone from asking the TO to put the game in. Typically the TO will add the tournament during pre-reg and if there isn't enough registered players by registration closing then they cancel it. TO-ing is just as much a business as any other, show them that you can generate them revenue and they'll start changing their tune.

The problem comes in getting people to show up and play said game.

hair colors through exchange of REAL money through the currency of 'Premium Tickets' exclusively on the PlayStation 4 console.

Out of all the things to be exclusive, it had to been hair colors along with its money schemes on PS4. From DOAX3 Scarlet (Switch) Soft Engine, Certain Owner Shop Items, & Sandwish Bikini to DOA6 (PS4) Ticket System & Hair Colors. That is a huge downgrade in exclusives and find it pretty funny for coming up with that business decision. Maybe the only way I find Myself using one of these Ticket gimmick, is if I have the ability to change from this:

Having to buy things again in-case save data corruption would be complete BS.

the problem for them there is the modders I've talked to don't think Koei Tecmo is smart enough to find a way to stop it.

The question is, would you want them to be smarter on finding away to prevent people from modding?

Remember how PS4 players were required to download Season Passes in the beginning and couldn't individually download? This reason was to bamboozle the biggest player pool for the launch of the game, and the releasing hair colors first on PS4 is proof of that.

If I was part of KT in the quest of milking as much money as possible to bamboozle player pools or whatever, I'd be going crazy for over-top revealing costume designs exclusively for female characters. But I guess KT thinks better business choices than some DOA fan who has ideas to make DOA profit.

Do not support this color scheme scam unless you want a completely fucked game

The color scheme wouldn't be worth anything, and that would require Me getting the PS4 version (I own Steam, don't mod, & not to impressed with DOA6), not missing much.

in the future where all DOA is is the SIMS or MAPLE STORY or an MMO.

That sounds like something that would happen regardless, since DOA would need spin-offs/mobile stuff to chase for trends & earn profits. That future doesn't sound as bad as being an eSports title (due to My experiences with Capcom & DOA6).

Polygon reported on the subject, even linking to this thread:

They didn't mention that you lose colors on save data loss or that you have to purchase colors per hair style so you have to spend 2-4 tickets depending on character if you want all hair styles to be the same color. I tweeted the author that information directly just to inform him.

Just great to see they have picked up on our article and are reaching out to Koei Tecmo games.

Be sure to give these guys a comment in their story to make sure they got it all right community and thank them for looking out for our wallets. This is what we need.

Other than the fact I am glad DoA is getting increased attention in general, I am slightly disheartened at the amount of posts in this thread VS any of the tourney posts for the last year or so

Just another typical Koei Tecmo moment where they smile and reach into your pocket to steal your wallet
And then when you say "hey wtf why are you stealing my money right in front of my face?"
They say

"Please understand"

Would be nice if the positive aspects of DOA got as much attention as the negative

It' still a community drive issue at the very least. We needed a wake-up call, and we got it.

Still, there is no way to deny that an inflated representation of player base happens for negative press

people who Don't Play DOA, Will still complain about DOA.

However, Only people who are fans of DOA, will praise it.

This isnt exclusive to doa - it is part of the human condition.

Again, I'm happy overall - but disheartened.

D O A
FIGHTING!!!
