GGs to Six and Aegis on Friday, we put in work!
"Get off the cab, Aegis!" '
I'm glad you guys are down to make meetings monthly or so, and we're really fortunate to have a place that we CAN get together for games. Hope to see you guys and more players out next time.
Just got some free time to weigh in.
It was a fucking blast. I was worried since I was the first there for like an hour (although Marn was playing GG and it was the funniest shit I've ever seen at an arcade) but then thrust showed up which was relieving and Six shortly thereafter. I was happy my Mila was able to compete at all, though Six was whupping our asses. I did learn a bit about proper punishment as well as a few other things. I think I also realized that I need to be using a stick for sure. Mila has too many directional options to be consistent using the analog stick on my Pro-Pad A.
But yeah, we should definitely try to turn this into a regular kind of gathering. Perhaps if there's enough of us, we could make a valid request to use two cabs and get a bit more serious attention this time. It was easy to see that there were some pretty out-there misconceptions about how you're supposed to play DOA which creates a really bad impression in other players' minds. I'd like to be able to change that, get some people to understand that DOA's not worse than other fighters, it's just different and takes a few moments to really consider what the game's about.
I agree with Six on the button layout, I use the same configuration when I play on stick and I'm sure that caused issue for other players, especially since I was also using the default control scheme on my pad.
Either way, we need to do it again, hopefully planned with enough time for me to request the time off at work for the day we choose to meet-up.
GG's all! Next time, I need to give that Gundam Versus a go.
