IMO unlocking stuff is not only a huge waste of time but in a case like this it doesn't give fair representation to each character and creates antagonism.

Thankfully you can download and resign saves to avoid wasting time but you'll still be hated for using a character that most people think requires too much effort to unlock. I have a 91% avoidance ratio on XBL because two of my mains are Alpha and Pai, both with bullshit unlock conditions

Lol. Or like the scrubs I fought online in DOA4 who said that Tengu was broken. Since he was the hardest character to unlock, I guess they automatically thought he was so amazing and due to him being so hard to unlock (and because he was shit), no one ever played him, so on one knew how to fight him and they thought he was some unstoppable force.

Has anyone noticed that after all this time, TN never really announced Alpha¿ The NA site still has the "next¿" beside Pai. The fact that there's only two slots for Leon and an obviously female fighter in the Ultimate site doesn't mean anything. They brought Ein and Leon back, there's simply no reason to believe Tengu won't get the same treatment.

If it were up to me.. id add tengu, raidou and the whole vf5fs cast.. lol
(Or just kage, wolf, eileen and aoi.. lol)

Personally I think that TN want give a tribute to VF porting the characters of the original game: for me just Lau, Wolf, Kagemaru and Jeffry (I exclude Dural), are the only ones that have a real possibility to be included in the game.

But anyway I would prefer much more to see Raidou, Tengu and Genra, and as new entries Rachel and Irene, before eventual other guests.

I hope so. I'll still get the game for Leon, but without Tengu, it'll still be a massively disappointing game to me.

Agreed. If Tengu got the boot so that Jacky could make it in... I'll be... I'd just... I can't even fathom a response to that. It'd be maximum degree bullshit to say the least.

I can't personally say I like tengu, tbh I hate him, but I hope he returns, both for his uniqueness and for his dedicated fans.

It's not a lack of respect for Virtua Fighter, I repeat that for me they couldn't add a better character than Jacky from the VF series, but this is DOA5 Ultimate by Team Ninja: the majority of the fans ask to see again past characters from the series developed by TN, and just after guest stars (if also from the fighting game generally considered the better one).

Honestly Jacky would have been the least choice for me from VF, we already got jahn lee. Lion, Brad, Jeffry, heck even Taka would be superior choices.

I'm not saying that I dislike VF or anything, but this is DOA, not VF. We should get all of our DOA characters back before they tack on any guests.

Well, actually also Akira is a bajiquan fighter like Kokoro, or Sarah was considered a Jeet Kune Do pratictioner until VF4: anyway Akira is really different from Kokoro, just like Sarah, Jacky and Jann Lee fight eveyone in different ways.

I understand that a complete new style is always better, but this don't mean necessarily that two characters that have the same style will fight in the same way. Personally I think that Team Ninja want leave this primate (to introduce a complete new fighting style in the game) just to their original characters.

EDIT: Just realized that according to my reasoning, they could decide to add Aoi just because now we have also Momiji that practice an Aikido variant...no please! :(

Tengu might be the first matchup to give Alpha some trouble... His mid range shenanigans are equally good and he's super heavyweight so her BnB combos may not work on him. But it's a moot point, nothing will convince me Tengu is alive short of seeing a legit 30-character select screen or hearing his laugh

I'm hoping Tengu gets in as well, and for some reason the roster won't feel complete compared to DOA 4's original cast or even Dimension's so to speak. He definitely should get in, they got me wondering what he'd look like updated and stuff.

Yeah, I was actually wishing for Lei Fei the monk to get in, he's my main in VF he would of been an awesome choice

I'd actually think that Alpha would completely obliterate him if he still has the same shitty frame data from DOA4 and DOAD. Most of his moves were over 20 frames on startup and the ones that weren't were still close to it (16-19 or so). Then there's his abysmal 15 frame jab and his 15 frame 8P. His only fast move was P+K, which was 12 frames and still slower than the 11 frame jab of the grappler characters.

He definitely should get in, they got me wondering what he'd look like updated and stuff.

I don't expect his appearance to change, honestly. His DOA4 look already fits in perfectly with DOA5's new art style. I just expect his model to be a graphically updated version of his DOA4 model.

Bah, frames shmames. I loved playing against Kasumi in DOA4 just because I knew the other guy must've thought I was crazy. All you need is 7P mixup

Hey, I loved playing with Tengu too and did decently with him, but there's no denying that his frame data needs to be hardcore buffed and he needs more mixup options.

I'm sure Shinbori knows what to do when it comes to frame data and balance ..
I personally think hes done a great job so far every time I pick up a new character :)

for example:
I honestly thought Zack was really bad at first ... but then I noticed that most his stuns end up as either crumple stuns which cannot be Stagger Escaped .. or Lift stuns which are too long to be stagger escaped without guaranteeing something.. when using him I'm being forced to think in a totally different way in applying pressure .. and the opponent is forced to commit to a hold if they don't want to get hit .. In addition to his mixup potential .. I feel this is where his "individuality" lies .. despite his lack of guaranteed shenanigans in comparison to the rest of the cast ..

Eliot, has the shittiest frames, with the shittiest speed, nothing guaranteed and an almost useless parry ... but his 9 frame jab and his sabaki is actually not so bad ..but when using him for a while you notice that his strength lies in his stupidly long and varied strings and more importantly his relaunch potential .. almost every juggle is a pain .. yes its repetitive and boring but its pretty damn strong ..

I'm still working on those 2 characters currently .. shifting back and forth between them .. I'm finding it a bit challenging. but more importantly, the mentality of using the characters is so different that I'm finding it quite fascinating, especially after maining a powerhouse like Lei Fang with great frames and almost every tool at her disposal.

I don't know how shinbori will make the rest of the cast "individual" but Jacky is already set with his Different VF style, auto parry and fakes .. and Momiji seems to do everything from her double jump ... Ein seems to bee the same and is even being referred to as "easy beginner mode" lol ...

What will Leon be ?
What will Tengu be ?
is Raidou even in ? (I really hope so ) ...
I'm honestly really excited to see how he works them into the system .. :)
