Actually, I'm on Chapter Challenge and the dude isn't with me in this mode. I have to take the six myself. I know I can do it I was just tired and a little pissed off. This always happens to me in Ninja Gaiden games. I also fought the Sephiroth-looking dude and Genshin in a Test of Valor and wasn't able to determine when to attack them AT ALL.

Funny thing about the sword-wielding alchemists (or duelists as they're called(?)), I have even less trouble with them than against actual alchemists. They don't have an annoying grab that drains ki and they don't dodge and hop around like friggin grandfather clock pendulums. They're just blokes with snippets of Regent's moveset and Alchemist blasts. Doesn't mean they aren't troublesome though. But with that kept in mind, I can hardly see them as the most annoying.

If you mean Alexei, I'll tell you how I win................ I mashed it out. Seriously. No strategy. No patience. Just flat out mashing. If I wanna wrap it up, I spam the 360T Scythe. As for Genshin, wait for him to do a Flying Swallow (keep a good range between yourself and him). As soon as you block it and he's still trying to recover, XYXXXY Izuna drop him with a scythe. Doing this about 4-5 times should give you an easy victory. As for Fiend Genshin, 360T Scythe and hope for the best :V

The scythe's 360 attack is so incredibly overpowered, it can turn minor annoyances into child's play and huge annoyances just..... average annoyances Because of this, I always make the scythe my go-to weapon against bosses of every kind due to its sheer power and crazy amount of i-frames. As helpful as it is against AI, it's ridiculously annoying to fight against in Clan Battle. So if you see a room full of Scythe users, now you'll know why.

But yeah, I'm a PS3 user as well. But, from all the good ol' days of DOA and NG on Xbox original and 360, I naturally still use the xbox controls when referring to buttons.
Y>Triangle
X>Square
A>X
B>Circle

Plus, it's way easier to say/type the xbox notations. Good habits die hard xD

I am curious to get some informed opinions from all the seasoned NG pros on this board on the difficultly and AI of NG3RE. I am seeing repeated comments on various forums about how "broken" and "cheap" the AI is in the game, particularly with UNM obviously. Basically, that the enemy AI is continually able to break the rules and has tons of i-frames, whereas Ryu has been nerfed and has very few i-frames, etc. and how unfair it all is.

My question, do you guys agree? Is the difficulty of NG3RE significantly different and/or cheaper than previous NGs? Did Team Ninja screw up with the enemy AI here and/or over-compensate for the lame AI of vanilla NG3? Do you feel Ryu is significantly less effective now so the only way to win is find exploits and scythe 360Y everything?

I am currently on my first MNM playthrough and, while finding it very, very difficult, don't necessarily find it "unfair". I know UNM is likely a whole different story (not sure I will ever even attempt UNM)....

Yes. Yes. Yes and no.

I still haven't played UN, and I'm not sure I want to after all the crap I run in to before it. The difficulty can be quite cheap in RE. Enemies have legit dodges, grabs and other tools that they can do DURING their attack strings. Ryu has no such things, let alone being able to quickly switch to them while he's attacking. The AI is dumb and too grab-happy (much like Sigma 2), but worse is that fact that Ryu himself is near-useless. His dodge is a horrid mess of frame traps, his tools have been nerfed to hell (guillotine throw, anyone?), he can't stun lock for crap (enemies just dodge out of everything after 1 hit) and his combos have become far less effective. That said, there are ways to get around it most of the time without the Scythe 360->Heavy. Not necessarily more effective/fun/less cheap ways, but ways all the same.

I'm going to need one of you PS3 players to rent this game on 360 to help me polish off the trials. The people who have been joining me seem to not be online at all on my days off lol. I just need one more MN trial and then the UN trials. After that it's just grinding to level 99 which I can do at my leisure. Annoying.

You should get Razors Edge on ps3, i would help you but no 360

The problem with that is that while I have both, I don't care about trophies and do care about achievements lol. That almost always causes me to get a game for 360 over PS3. I only have 3 UN missions left now but this shit is giving me a headache. I'm damn good at these games but just doing 360Y over and over again or watching someone else do it while I'm Momiji is mind-numbingly stupid and boring.
