Take some notes, Sakuda.
On an island full of doppelgängers we need a bit of fresh air.

Or at the VERY least add the cut girls in. Since it's Year of the Ninja currently, something your BOSSES are heavily invested in marketing, there NO excuse to skip out on Rachel for example.

Fair enough but it seems that imagining a backstory for an original character is way too hard in 2025 and not within everyone's reach.
So here we are with redhead Shandy, art schools Honoka with glasses and a fox girl. We even got Marie Rose with silver hair and a sun-tan.
Xtreme is in such a mess now.

Here is the biggest difference: the DOAX audience doesn’t constantly complain. I’m not pointing a finger at you in particular, but their core audience takes all the new characters (including look alikes) and eat up everything they get. For Koei Tecmo… that is good.

They don’t want to deal with complaining. So they are going to outsource our favorite franchises which is actually proving to be beneficial so far.

I know people cry about the truth that comes out of my mouth (especially on Discord where they think I don’t see) but it’s going to be what happens. Especially when and if NG4 is a critical success. Then it will be two critically acclaimed games in a row.

Yasuda isn’t making a new DOA. He might do a UE5 wrap on an older game, but we aren’t seeing a new one by TN unless hell freezes over.

Well, you would know better.
Given PRISM partial success and mixed response overall mostly due to its lack of content, it's only fair for devs to start taking general criticism into account, whether positive or negative.
Are they to blame for going the easy route milking this gacha game to the last drop and saying fuck you to hardcore DOA fans on the same occasion?
Maybe, even though that's the only way for the DOA series to somehow thrive at the present time.
Still, you can't keep on damaging the reputation and legacy of a beloved franchise and expect what's left of the playerbase to respond in a positive manner.
Having one of the missing OG characters being introduced would indeed be a good start for Xtreme to reconnect to DOA, particularly when half of the new VV characters nobody knows of and with forgettable designs and trivia populate the island.
Also it's high time for quality games over quantity when it comes to DOA, especially after PRISM and DOA6 fiasco.
It did hit a new low so anything above average for the next installment can be most welcome.

Besides, they if anything have a golden opportunity on capitalizing on the Year of the Ninja promotion right now, and they really should take it (if they can add Tina in partly because of DOA's 25th anniversary, they most certainly can add Rachel in to help promote Year of the Ninja, especially when her game's getting a remake).

The only reason why I tolerate it being a gacha game is because I realize that may be the only real chance at the cut girls getting in (I would have preferred that they were never cut in the first place, or at the very least they actually ADDED them in DOAX3 like we were promised rather than wrecking any intended plans on it due to grossly incompetent accountants suggesting they overprice the DLC).

That said, I do think the newcomers were fairly good characterization-wise (though I do really wish they were ACTUAL fighters ultimately. I won't blame Sakuta for them not being fighters, more like Shimbori and his crassly claiming none of the Xtreme girls are fighters. Well, gee, then what is Lisa, then?).

Though to be fair, speaking as someone who jumped ship to DOA after messes at Metal Gear that Kojima personally inflicted, I wouldn't really say what DOA went through was especially damaging (they'd need to have Kasumi or Tina or the others singing praises to Che Guevara, or even randomly turning Tina or Bass into pure villains or at best amoral characters who are obsessed with "the mission" at the expense of everything else, not to mention having the characters unsubtly flipping the bird at America, or even having Helena sing praises for the May 1968 riots before DOA could come CLOSE to having its reputation and legacy ruined. Oh, and also having the creator of the franchise deliberately flip the bird at his co-workers while still on the job regarding their contributions due to his lack of involvement in them like Kojima did with a certain side quest in the Extra Ops where he had Miller make very disrespectful comments towards games like Portable Ops or Snake's Revenge or Ghost Babel, especially Portable Ops or Snake's Revenge since those two games either were canon or were DIRECTLY responsible for building Metal Gear into a beloved franchise.). Heck, if anything, Kojima's writing of females made the DOA girls look wholesome by comparison, DESPITE DOA's reputation.
