When it comes to DOA or TT2 if people don't utilize the tutorial in the game hop online and get waxed then that's on them. That's a completely different scenario. Literally the way people play T7 I think is almost worse than either DOA or TT2 ironically.

And it's not only us who talk about it. The Pro talk as well. Aris complains heavy about it. Speedkicks mentioned it. So it's not like me or King Anubis or Lulu the only dudes talking about lack of tutorial. And I'm morely upset about how lackluster players are because of it. It's a year and we still only know Sample combo 3? Thats horrible progression that Tekken should be ashamed of.

I’m not whining about it, I just don’t like the fact that tekken removes the tutorial for a bullshit reason and her trying to justify that reason.

Dissidia NT could've benefitted from a better tutorial than the one we got... hell, even a more detailed movelist explanation. Maybe when they make another version - and they will - they'll sponsor the right YouTuber this time and use Trueblade Seeker's content as a basis.

There's tutorials and such on their main channel and Aris and players have some. At the end of the day you have to accept it, Tekken has no tutorial but that excuse is kinda getting old. Just play the game and you'll get better, I never used a tekken tutorial or watched a guide on how to play. Its just about learning and experience, the no tutorial card can't be milked forever.

While tekken lacks a proper tutorial, it makes up for by having a supportive fan base who've made umpteenth videos on YouTube teaching ppl the basics of the game, strategies, mechanics, match ups, character guides, etc, which is a hell of a lot more than most fighting games get so I don't see what the problem is

As someone who plays obscure anime fighters where the closest thing to a tutorial is a single Japanese webpage which can't even be fully translated, i'd kill for a community like tekkens' who are so eager to share knowledge

That said, having a tutorial doesn't really mean that much, you can have a game with in-depth bomb ass tutorial and still be garbage at the game (Looking at you guilty gear rev 2, which has the best tutorial in fighting games period, but I'm total shit at it, on the other hand I play nitroplus blasterz which has no tutorial, very limited information, yet I'm pretty dam good at it )

While thats technically true... do you think its fair to expect that from new players... especially those who don't have a pre-existing history in other Fighting Games ?

Its fine if Tekken wants to embrace that specific way of thinking... but if that really worked then this issue would have never come up in the first place.

Actually that good old trend of Fighting Games leaving new players In the Dark is almost outdated now... especially among well known series.

These days you're the odd one out if your game doesn't have a Tutorial...

Even that pain in the ass BlazBlue has one...

Its not an issue tho. I understand new players may want a tutorial but tekken hasn't added one. There's an app and video resources that can be used but you cant mope and whine all day that there's no tutorial. Plus Tekken isn't hard to get into, the depth of the game is knowing MUs and various other things you learn through experience

There's no benefit to not having a tutorial. That's the issue. It's holding on to antiquated game design, for no reason.

@KasumiLover69 going to the internet and download apps and such for something that should be in the game itself is quite stupid. The game itself should’ve provided it not the players or some website. A fighting game without a tutorial is like buying a machine or tool or whatever without a manual.

Well DOA hasn't done that until DOA5 where VF was helping them. And its not stupid imo, if you really want to get better you'd be willing to go through extra hurdles to do so.

Experience makes you better but before that you have to get the basics down. And we’re talking about games of now not of games that are 10 years old.

Either way Tekken isn't really that hard to get down basics wise, if you can play DOA you can play tekken. And age doesn't matter since the games we're talking about play the same as they did before at the core besides few gameplay mechanic edition

I'ma try to add my extra pointers on here:
@Camel with 2 thumbs I agree. Tekken has a good community that will attempt to help. I feel that the only benefit to the lack of tutorial is the amount of youtube content for players looking for the basic aspects of tekken.

However, I shouldn't have to go to youtube to learn how to punish or SS. I should already know that by now. Again, it's one thing when it's Kyu's and Dan's not understanding the game. But once you're past that, there's no excuse to suffer from the fundamental aspects of tekken. How can there be a pass for someone who has 1000+ wins at green and they only know Sample combo 3?

That's like playing DOA at B rank or whatever and only knowing Combo Challenge 16 or something. That's ridiculous. Plus some of the frames on the app are outdated. @KasumiLover69 So that's another issue so even some of the content out there's flawed.

It's one thing if the game's not for you and you give 100% effort and such. I gave 100% effort to SF. It's not for me. But where I can defend SF compared to Tekken is at least there was a tutorial and such to even help me learn the game. I don't think Tekken only benefits "Legacy Players". If you put the time in, you can do great.
