Trust me. I saw it first hand since DOA5 was my first DOA game. The 10+ characters DOA5 added during its run didn't change anything and nothing DOA does will change that anytime soon. That's why it was logical TN added Marie and the rest. If the neighbors, as you put it, don't care about the game then TN might as well cater to the people who actually play the game. Like Diego for US and Nico for Japan.

That was why I mentioned in a status before that it looked like DOA is trying to, in a harsher terms, kiss ass to be liked by people who don't care about them. No other game worries about how the FGC views them. I also mentioned the words SE casually once and it blew up into someone dead set saying I wanted SE removed and other nonsense out of nowhere.

One of the thing said was if SE was gone the FGC won't take DOA seriously anymore as if they did before. It's just too strange for people here to worry so much about appearance. I like DOA as much as anyone here but I don't want to be blinded or so devoted to it that logic is thrown out.

But again human013, you applied zero logic to it regarding SE and you still bring it up like you are correct on the matter which you are not even close to correct. You yourself threw logic out the window.

For start, DOA has become a meme in it's entirety on it's system that's not even about SE. Many high level players from Tekken, VF etc don't want to try DOA for many reasons that's not even about SE.
DestructionBomb
DestructionBomb
Do we cater to those players? no, we shouldn't, since most of the reasons are tied to either blunt ignorance or avoidance to DOA's stigma. Many players gave a positive reason on why they want SE removed and a huge number of people never listed why they wanted it removed. With posts like what you just made, it's no wonder why threads get locked lul. I mean you are new here so it all makes sense.

But this is a DOA community so I try to keep such thoughts at a minimum because I'm the minority. My simple neutral posts were already spun and turned into attacks on DOA on two occasions so I learned my lesson.

Finally, a sane post. Will admit but you surprised me now, i'll have to give you more credit.

I think people are misconstruing TN's intentions with DOA6. TN isn't worried about DOA's "appearance" because they're ashamed of previous entries or anything. KT & TN's focus with DOA6 is to try and broaden the audience and market for DOA by developing and promoting it in a manner that is likely to appeal to a larger consumer-base.
Force_of_Nature
Force_of_Nature
KT & TN recognise that DOA is overly niche and has stigmas to overcome if it is broaden its universal appeal so TN is developing and promoting DOA6 to their vision of being the "cool fighter" as opposed to the "titty fighter". They have admittedly "toned down fanservice" and upped the hard-hitting action a bit, however fanservice is still very much in DOA6 and deep down, DOA6 is still DOA.

Before DOA5 it was I hate hold, attacking is too risky, or something like that.

But you're right that many other communities worry less about appearance. Blazblue was degeneracy central and it's played and accepted everywhere, because it had an open-minded people that supported it, didn't pull newsheader-worthy stunts and I bet didn't have guys typing paragraphs about their righteous lust for some digital chicks.

I understand and like what TN did, but regardless of their intention, now EVERYWHERE you go there's an endless stream of where are my tits? did you SEE what they did to poor ayane please sign this petition etc. and general infighting. The way Shinbori's been going on a "misunderstanding" ride is also fairly sketchy from a passerby point of view. I think views on the series just hit rock bottom with these events.

Like DB implied, DOA's mechanics have always turned off majority of the FGC. You either like them or you don't, though DOA was an acquired taste to me. DOA5 didn't really add to the stigma anymore than DOA4 or previous DOA's did and DOA5 was supported best in the competitive community.

As for the controversies surrounding DOA6, these are a result of the fanbase Itagaki cultivated and attracted to DOA over the years. The more moronic elements within the fanbase basically view DOA changing in anyway as an attack on DOA's supposed "tradition". Also, some of the people whining likely don't even really respect DOA and are just bitching due to some perceived SJW crusade.

As for BlazBlue, it gets the benefit of being perceived and respected as a legitmate fighter. Lots of members of the FGC don't even think DOA5 is a legit fighting game. Hell, the general public probably knows more about DOAX than they do about DOA as a fighting game. You can't knock TN for trying to improve DOA's image in the FGC, and the gaming community in general.

I tried my best to convince people to try the game at events and NY locals, but unfortunately the path to Marvel, Smash, and SF was too great of an influence for people to try it. Many of the reasons is the mechanics and slightly a bit on DOA's stigma.

Know people would say "well who cares about those people" but at some point you have to expand and get more people to play. West activities are not as popular either.

Yes! Yeah, DOA has its fanbase but the game will never grow if it just remains content catering to its usual niche & Itagaki's followers. TN knows that DOA is capable of more potential success than it received with DOA5LR and are making an effort to reach out to a wider audience. Also keep in mind that DOA plays fairly differently to how a SF, Marvel, or Tekken plays.

So far, I have agreed with and enjoy TN's promotion of DOA6 thus far since E3 back in June. They recognise that the Western & Eastern markets are different and have been promoting the game accordingly. Emperor Cow's hands-on video also helped me recognise what TN was aiming for with DOA6's changes.

Just a little note. BB was first seen as a casual knockoff of GG with horrible balancing and it wasn't respected by many people. The difference is BB always chugged along doing whatever it wanted without worrying about how others saw it. There's drastic system changes in every game plus the characters. Now look at where both games are at. BB is only 10 years old and DOA is 22.

I always assumed BlazBlue was older than I am for some reason... only to find out it hasn't even gone through puberty yet...

Which explains all the Loli characters.

True, BB did get heckled by GG players before Xrd became the standard for GG this console gen. Ahh the days when Ragna was godlike lol. With regards to DOA, DOA5 was the first DOA to put a concerted effort towards being viewed as a competitive fighting game in both the West & Japan. DOA4 quite frankly was a joke where Itagaki didn't want the game to be seen as competitive in anyway.
