I've been saying this.

Took a page from the Nintendo school of useless innovation.

Its useful for typing in the main PS4 menu but useless otherwise.

It’s very useful for FFXIV but I can’t say it’s been that useful otherwise

I like touching the touch pad.

Its not as worse as the sixasis motion controls on PS3. I didn't like it in Ratchet and Clank Future series, especially in Tools of Destruction. I think that one could easily use the analog stick(s) instead for most games when it comes to the PS4 controller's touchpad.

Earlier on the Sixaxis actually had some neat uses (including in games like Heavenly sword), but it was unfortunately underutilised. The touchpad just feels there 99.9% of the time taking up space in the middle of the controller.
