I can't ever watch these because of cringe (It's funny but, I just prefer guides to be in a serious tone ). Timestamp of when you use your normal voice? 34 sounding like you're 14 lolz EDIT:I hear it now. Time to check the others out. Sound kinda young still, bro.
Haha, I'm Asian, of course I sound young. I used to do "serious tone" guides but they just sounded so monotone so I wanted to add a little flavour to them. And I still sound monotone once I get into the "meat" of the guide. You do know that these type of guides or public speaking don't come naturally to me right? This shit is hard for me and I busted my ass off to put together these guides.
@KING JAIMY More or less yeah. You don't realize how much I got complaints about there being no guides or the like for a lot of characters. It's a problem in the DOA community and I'm trying to pick up the slack. On the bright side, I'm almost 60% done the cast now.
Yeah, I can see the passion for the game when you go out your way to make them. Though, people probably prefer mains of said character in question to rely on a guide. It shows DoA's balance as a fighting game. As well as a knowledge of match ups and I can very well see it stated as such in your language. I don't believe it to be so, but you gotta be weary of people perceiving you as, "fake" over the Web on allegiance
Despite you being a DoA player. This is how people think. Same reason people assume high price equals high quality. Even if the item is exactly the same. People think the cheaper item has something wrong with it. You know what I'm saying? People take this higher like, "No other people outside DoA's community cares. So, why should I make a guide?" I do hear a difference when you speak about Ayane vs others
A lot of players think, "Why should I make a guide? I don't play this character." So, then nothing gets made. You also have people that don't want to expose tech they know because of their confidence or just general know-how. If you limit player knowledge, you potentially limit the challenge, thus no one improves. Especially the person hiding tech because now, no one can challenge them. This hampers small communities
Well obviously I know about Ayane more than any other character in DOA, so the knowledge will shine through when need be. The lack of guides, or related tutorials can be a little frustrating at times and I've noticed that more prominent/larger FG figures on YT move on from DOA, including DOA6, very quickly. For instance their last DOA video would be on Mar. 10th or earlier.
I actually don't mind the humor in these guides. It draws and retains viewers' attention. Some may find it cringy, others may find it enjoyable (I consider myself to be part of the latter category). I understand guides are meant to be serious, but after a lot of factual information my attention span suffers a bit and something as silly as a witty joke or pun makes me smirk and bring back my attention.
I understand it isn't for everyone, but I just find the standard plain guides super boring whereas I feel like F.O.N. adds personality to them. It really shows his passion for the game.
I'm not a high level top player, so it does feel a bit weird to have the most tutorial content for DOA6, however, the relative productive content for DOA6 on YT now is a lot better than it was for DOA5. Before EMPEROR COW finished his DOA5 tutorial one month before DOA5U released in 2013, there were barely any productive tutorial/guide videos for DOA5 preceding it.
@Force_of_Nature You're absolutely right. It's better that someone creates these guides, than that no one makes them. Besides, you don't even have to be a top level player to share your knowledge. Not being a top level player doesn't disqualify anything as long as the information is accurate.
Yeah, DoA does need it. Nothing against the wittiness. I just felt second-hand embarrassment, simply because it isn't the way, I'd add humor personally. And I'm a jester, no doubt and can do public speeches. I don't want this to come off as pretentious or narcissistic on my part. Him being a DoA player is enough. I don't want to see guides from people whom play games other than DoA. Tbh Then it feels as if they're...
@KING JAIMY Yes! Exactly! Producing content is a role that any member in DOA community can take as long as they have helpful information to share. I basically just want to see YT flooded with productive DOA6 videos instead of "unproductive" content.
....implying DoA is a game that any random dude can come and suddenly think they know anything. Yes, DoA6 has its issues but that's because we play the game to know. DoA still has the triangle system, great tutorial and quality of life features, I wish more fgs used. If you're willing to stick around, nice but da hype train players, eh, get off the train.
