Yeah, I miss old sidestep attacks. Current one is okay for escaping pressure, but there will be times when I don't want to blast my opponent far away from me, I want to keep them close and continue pressure after a sidestep attack.

This is actually something I proposed a while back and I'm still in favor of it.
Perhaps not perfect, but it beats the current system, anyhow.

Sounds good on paper, but those "DOA5" sidestep attacks will still get beat out by linear retracking strings turning them into the dumb risk they used to be. Honestly, I wish that DOA would stop fucking around and just implement a sidestep system akin to VF, SC or Tekken. I mean we're on Dead or Alive 6 for fuck sake.

Yeah DoA5 sidesteps were more like, I want to do this to this linear ender instead of holding. Not necessarily a better reward but kept the opponent standing for more Yomi. It makes sense on paper since they have the DoA4 wall stuns which I'm not sure people even use that much.

Holy, how hard is it for TN to just grab their nuts, swing over to Sega's AM2 HQ or Namco's division team, and ask for help on a proper SS. Why in the world is TN trying to be overly unique for things that simply creates a paradox of terrible results?

Here's a better one imo and far worth the gamble than TN trying to come up with things:

Ask another company on how to do it. I suggest Sega, otherwise no one is happy. If they are too shy or have too much pride to ask, stop. They need their hands held to achieve results and I would hope they take it.

>Assume that returning moves can't be individually tuned and updated for utility to integrate into the current system.
>Assume that switching to an entirely different system can allow for finely-tuned abilities that integrate into the current system.
