I feel like I'm unique outside of the FGC since not a lot of people play or like FGs. However, within the FGC my scope becomes limited based on what I can play well or not.
VF5FS is a game I really wish had a release on PS4 as I would play that all day,. Just on an old console with players from crappy LAN areas and offline only which I need to pay 4. the others are 2 games I play well that have recent iterations(SFV, DoA6) I'm not fond of entirely/bored with. I'm in a conundrum when it comes to FGs.
As far as non-fgs goes, deveoplers assume what kind of games people like based on their habits with releasing open world, buggy pos games instead of unique experiences. Sony exclusives have been solid. Indie devs know what itch to scratch from time to time but gaming has kinda got more boring to me. I like the social aspect of games more than the games at times. Is why I still give fgs a shot.
kind of. i avoid EPIC ESPORTS GAYMING genres like the plague because i feel they are too dominated by zoomers, for instance.
as for the second question, yes as soon as the dev grows a backbone and tells social media to go fuck itself. good luck finding one in the current absolute state of the world, though.
I'm just starting my first playthrough of Mario Odyssey today. Not having money has been interesting. Kinda feels like being a kid again not following the industry again and video games a little more magical again idk
Even when I have money to spare, I tend to be a frugal shopper. I'm not going to buy a game just because media outlets say its good. They're usually wrong.
1. appeal to me personally
2. looking interesting enough for me to check out
that's all, but even with that i don't have the time or the reasources to indulge in everything that catches my attention, and i;ll be dammed if i let the mainstream machine contribute to that backlog
I don't like overtly popular games but I feel it's harder for games to NOT try to appeal to everyone. It's where Souls gets its appeal but it feels more hipster than being a real unique game. Like we'll do things in SOME influence of others more so than our instinct says we do
