To an extent, yeah, but on the flip side the DOA community could stand to be a bit more productive towards levelling itself up as a whole compared to other communities (which admittedly is more challenging with the smaller community size).
Pre release DOA6 fandom was kinda toxic (mostly the casual crowd crying about alleged censorship) but yeah overall the ones who actually care about the franchise as a fighter are generally chill
I always chuckle at the irony when people say they're leaving the DOA community due to toxicity and will be moving over to Tekken / Mortal Kombat where a "real community" is. Then 3 months later they come back to DOA :-/
It really is. The /general/ one tho, cause if you get into the dudebro cesspool that Gamefaqs and the DOA subreddit are, you're in for a truly bad time lmao
I’m new in the MK community but there is always drama, almost every day. Here there is rarely any drama. The only drama that I’ve seen was pre release about the so called toning down. The subreddit and gamefaqs probably is full of shit, but I don’t really see them as a part of the DOA community. Those type of people are a part of the boner culture not the DOA community.
Go to where they are at, in person or online. Hell about two weeks ago Lord Xav1er spent 2+ hours helping me train online (and by train I mean decimating my ass). I "fought" Blackburry in an online tournament and have "fought" a few rounds against Videogames is life in lobbies (I put fought in quotes because I was freaking free). They've either been very friendly or just doing their own thing but never toxic.
