Unfortunately, the thing that some people have to remember is that DOA6 could grow in community like UNIST; it's just that the community needs to support the game the way how the UNIST community supported UNIST. This is regardless of how the developer supports the game (or not). Focusing on blaming the DOA Team won't help the DOA community grow for instance.

People are unaware that part of this reason is Koei Tecmo. TN is a sub division under them. Whatever the marketing decides is what KT will follow, which will instill TN to follow the policy. KT is the root of most of the problems. TN is actually a generally good team, but TN also has a boss. Whatever the higher ups decides is what TN is going to do because they are working for them.

So the EVO stunt that Shimbori did was because of KT?
DestructionBomb

If it's KT then yes, I mean that's how the market of the game is in general. Shimbori literally even has his own boss. Not every issue is a Shimbori problem. Most of them issues stem from executives, marketing, budget control, and direction to the game from KT main policy sourcing.

@Force_of_Nature The blame starts with the DOA team because they released a half-assed product filled with issues and is continuing a stupid DLC practice. The community cannot grow like UNIST because the main pillar of the community, DOA6, is horrible. Only DOA people will continue to support this game while they blame everything else as the reason the game isn't doing well.

TN has done nothing to gain the trust of people.

@human013 Read what @DestructionBomb stated, alot of DOA6 (and to a lesser extent DOA5/U/LR's) issues revolve around the terrible marketing of the franchise. Giving TN shit for that won't help the DOA community grow for instance. The way how a community grows is through supporting the game of choice and enticing more people to join.

You'd be asking too much with the whole "No More DLC costumes" comment, since that is KT way of making profits especially coming from DOA5 (aka one of the best versions). Publishers is thirsty for money/yen which they would want ways of milking it.

@Force_of_Nature But TN has done nothing to alleviate it. Everyone mocks DOA and TN themselves do nothing to prove them wrong. DOA6 is the "E-sports" fighting game but it has a shit load of issues like input lag, the whole side step system, the ground game, and hit box issues. People were shitting on DOA6 saying it was just a reskinned DOA5. Now look at the DLCs and characters in 6.
human013

The main and most important thing about this is that DOA6 itself is not enticing no matter how much DOA players says it is. Literally everything a shit talker says about the game is true and TN is the one allowing it to become true. I find it hard to believe that supporting what TN is doing with DOA6 will grow the community. It's been almost a year so how much has the community grown?
human013

@Kasumi-Phase-X They can at least limit it to one set every once in a while and make them unique and interesting. The whole "DOA6 is a serious fighting game" bs at launch sure was thrown away fast. Nothing says your game is a serious fighter like loads and loads of DLC costumes.

And yet again, Koei Tecmo is to blame for this. TN in itself is a good team if given the right materials. Look at Nioh and the clear separation compared to DOA. Nioh is a clear indication of how TN truly works for the game, but if the head honchos is only giving you a crumbs for what you want to achieve. Not sheeping to defend DOA, but it's not rocket science.

Just ignore how DOA6 was at launch that's in the past. Yes, it is was atrocious with a lot of horrid decisions made, but it doesn't change the notion that in order for a game community to grow, the individuals within the community need to entice people to join the community instead of effectively scaring them off.

If you don't like the direction the game is going in, you have the choice to continue supporting it, or bugger off and seek out something else or another community to support instead. Fighting games like DOA are very niche and generally lower budget because they don't rake in the profits of high-profile AAA games. Sadly, DLC is how DOA6 makes the vast majority of its revenue.

I.e. It is not healthy to support something you actively dislike.

@Force_of_Nature It's rather interesting on how people immediately point fingers at TN for things they were given in the first place lol. Oh no, it's as if TN risen up against KT (their own boss) on how the game should be handled with it's marketing. Oh no.

No lobbies day one? this is obviously only TN's fault of course. They purposely (budget were given of course) wanted to do this!

@DestructionBomb It's scapegoating because they're the face of the franchise. It's human nature.

DOA6's issues at launch can't be ignored when they are still in the game. The issue starts with TN because every step they make makes DOA6 less appealing, but since you seem to believe that the words of the community has more weight then the actions of TN, I'll wait for the day when you prove me wrong. When people flock to this game and accept everything TN does.
