Would it break the game like crazy or would it change absolutely nothing? I think it'd be interesting honestly, if playing lighter characters with higher priority also meant dying in 2 wrong guesses and playing heavier, beefy characters meant to you got to take a bit more punishment than the average character

So basically like Street Fighter in terms of health, characters like Zangief will have the highest because he's obviously heavyweight while the lightweights like Cammy and Chun-Li have the least amount... probably no.

It'd be interesting thats for sure. This plus the different character weights would mean that it'd be a slight nerf (depending on how much health they'd lose) to the characters that are lightweight and maybe even to some middleweights and a slight buff (again, depends on how much health they gain) to heavys and super heavys. With DOA6 though, I think that the nerfs and buffs would be pretty big.

Like, in a stage where there are plenty of objects that offer sit-down stuns or on Chinese Festival the lightweights and some middleweights could get TOD'd way easier than before, especially on Chinese Festival, while the heavys and super heavys would probably live to see the light of the day after a 30 hit juggle/combo. Overall, eh, idk, 3D fighting games iirc don't do that at all and its not a must imo.

Nah, DOA & VF have weight classes for a reason. I don't think having variable health would be a good idea in a 3D fighter.

I'd say no. That's some Street Fighter nonsense.

No.

@Force_of_Nature yeah, weight classes kinda serve the purpose of differentiating the amt of dmg you can do to different characters, but is there a specific reazon why would varying health be bad for 3D fighters? Besides it largely being a 2D trope?
Brute

It encourages a sort of "well, that's okay because..." approach to certain interactions that would/should otherwise be more tempered. It basically takes Bass v Christie, puts it on steroids, then applies it more broadly across the board. And there's a reason that people aren't in love with the Christie v Bass match-up.

Well characters like Marie Rose or Honoka would struggle more than they already do. A character like Christie would probably receive more health than she deserves because she's in the "middleweight" category. Basically what Brute implied. There's a lot more factors at play in a game like DOA compared to a 2D fighter, so adding variable health would just throw off the balance.
