Tekken was the premiere fighting game franchise on some of the best selling consoles of all time (PS1 and PS2)
Soul Calibur is one of the most intuitive fighters that makes it easy for to everyone to get into

makes sense why regular folks would be more willing to try those game as opposed to Arcana Heart 3 Love Max Six Stars

There was a time when VF and DOA shited on Tekken and SoulCalibur.

There are still people who remember how huge and amazing VF2 VF3 VF4 and DOA2 DO3 DOA2U were in the past (90's - 00's era).

When Virtua Fighter was still here at the PS360 generation, you have never heard one single time that "Tekken is the king of 3D fighting games", like WTF is this bull**** ? NEVER. And it has never been the case.

Tekken was dead on PS360 while VF5FS was sick and so ahead of his time once again.

But now VF returns, and it's time for "the real king" to regain his throne.

That's nice let the 40 and 30 year olds try to dethrone tekken and soul calibur, but your dealing with the new fgc kids born in 2000 who are exposed to tekken 7 way more. @Napoleon that's not true actually, Tekken has always faired better over DOA, especially in more recent games. All that sounds more like personal opinions from you imo xD even VF won't do well if there's not any real changes, that's why VF5 and SD are dead since there wasn't any major changes or a story advance and only long old heads really play it

DOA3 and DOA2U destroyed Tekken, at the time these games were like next gen fighting games.

Tekken was Definitely in the same boat as VF with its playerbase playing it exclusively. Casuals will try it but then leave. Thing is, SFV fucking up, made TK7 popular. T7 doesn't prep you for old TK

Because they hear that Tekken is the "cool fighter" though they generally don't know what the fuck they're doing 95% of the time, and Soulcalibur has Nightmare, a Cloud Strife creator and a tiddy waifu creator.

@Napoleon You misread. I'm saying, no one gave a fuck about a 3D game at this level untill T7. By same boat, I mean, everyone hopped on, played it, then left soon thereafter. Our player bases were miniscule, just like every FG not named SF. Now, with SFV fucking up, people are flocking to our shit, asking for a membership card. SC and DoA is still a testament to that today.

Regardless if those particular lastest entries are doodoo or not. They still have the same player bases that were there for 19+ years and counting. Sure, maybe T7 dropped if you look at steam charts but I'm sure they have some new players that stayed that otherwise wouldn't 8 years ago.
