Yeah, it's hard for me as well to accept games that don't have a roster from 20+ yrs ago. GBFV problem is that it wants to be a FG W/O the commitment. The game is reverse dunning-krueger effect. If you play it w/ANY FG Exp. 0 reason someone can talk shit. There's 0 salt for losing and no hype for winning.

Do you normally have a tough investing in fighting games that come from franchises you're not familiar with? if that' the case I'd say stick with it till a character comes out that you mesh with, then it'll come together

for me I thought it was gonna be Belial, but as much as I like him visually his gameplay never clicked with so im still holding out, still gotta give caggy a go

If that's what devs want FGs to be, I don't know if we'll last long as a genre. That said, I've grown to like some franchises that aren't old school but it needs more to convince because caring is still important. GGS might ave people question, why should I care if there's no ranked. You WILL see it. Same goes for dead games with close-knit community like ours, VFDC, SGs, KoF etc. Despite some being BIGGER outside.

GBVS is too simple and lacking in content, especially for a fully priced game. 11 characters at launch is inadequate. As for the story and characters, it's hard to care about them if you've never played Granblue Fantasy on mobile. The story modes don't do enough to enamour you to the characters if you are new to them. The awful online in 2020 doesn't help matters.

maybe as someone who plays hella niche airdashers/anime fighters with super obscure characters I have no room to say this, but I think you can definitely get into the game if you're not familiar with the source material, as long as the game feels good and there's a character you click with it's all gucci

GBFV's problem (at least for me) is that the game just feels strange, can't put my finger on it but it's this weird game that's trying to appeal to SF crowd and the GG crowd simultaneously, and the whole thing is just odd because of it, should of just gone whole hog in one direction, but of course that's just me
