If a game wants to have guest characters that's all fine dandy, but when said guest characters are these oddball additions with polarizing strengths that don't follow the rules/meta, that's when I'm like "yeah, I could do without this in the next game"

The issue imo is that they can play Tekken the same way every other character can, hell, even better than some of them and they also kept most of the elements from the games they came from, like meter moves, meter cancels, supers, 2D jumps etc. They can be balanced but they have to either nerf the way they play Tekken or nerf the 2D stuff that they carried over from the games they came from.

Doesn't matter which side someone picks, both sides were wrong regardless so whatever side someone picks is still on the losing side lel. Knee used Geese twice at a tournament and still had complaints with Fakhuram and Leroy, while TMM speaks of Korean scenes but yet that man has never stepped foot into Korea.

Tekken balance was never pure to begin with (like most games), even with the inclusion of 2D guests.

Eh, the Koreans play to win. To put things in perspective, I like the way that the VF's were implemented in DOA5/U/LR. They're strong, are reasonably faithful to their home franchise, but rarely felt OP (as annoying as Sarah could be at times...). The 2D characters in T7 feel out of place for the reasoning @ChaolanLegacy gave. I still remember Akuma derping in the T7 arcade release in 2015.

Akuma was actually busted in the arcade release. He had it coming for good reason.

But honestly, just nerf those jump-ins from Akuma or increase the hitbox.

Exactly haha. He was embarassing Tekken players. I'll say straight up that I don't like the 2D's in Tekken 7 (don't get me wrong I like the idea of Geese). However, I'm definitely not against guest characters in the future. They have the potential to bring in hype if balanced right.

Same. Negan and Noctis still look weird though but it is what it is. Overall, I will say that Akuma didn't even retain his Capcom weaknesses which is either low stamina or being one of the easiest characters to inflict Dizzy state on from older Capcom inclusions, but because Tekken shares same health pool and no dizzy state, it makes Akuma even much more of a problem which is oof, so this I can understand.

There are a plethora of options they could go with if they still want to balance Akuma and Geese, nerf meter gain, give a slight damage nerf if meter is being used in order to continue a combo on a grounded opponent, iirc, damage scaling doesn't apply until the comboed character isn't being juggled but with S4 having so little content to it I feel that they're going to be done with T7 after this SP.
