If you're asking about traditional 2D fighting games and you're really just starting out, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo still isn't a bad place to start, imo, but I actually didn't feel like I really learned how to play SF until Killer Instinct Gold's and SFEX+A's tutorials/missions, lol (being older by then also helped).

Yeah, i got told Street Fighter would be a good way to start. Is Samurai Shodown still a thing? Sorry i have never been interested in 2d fighters before expect guilty gear and kof so my knowledge is 404.

@inochinagi They should bring Parasite Eve series back. Even if would be just a remake.

Not to sure about Samsho, it's easy to learn and the execution celing is quite low, but actually winning games in Samsho is very difficult, especially if your 2D fundamentals are not great

SF is universal, everyone and anyone can get into it but i'd just hold off for 6 to release

other than than we got Multiverses which is accessible and free, and I'd suggest to keep an eye out for Project L

No fighting game is really easy to win at past a certain level. It's easy to win at a low level in GG Strive, but good luck winning consistently against anyone past Floor 9. Basically any modern FG in the past 4 or 5 years is essentially "easy to learn, hard to master" with very few exceptions. MultiVersus included (aside from getting carried by your partner).

@Chisa Parasite Eve getting a remake akin to FFVIIR production quality would be glorious.

Do you guys know if 2d fighters are easier to get into than 3ds ones? I have had problems understanding fighters overall but i do have interest in them and tournaments.

@Force_of_Nature As long it would be a remake of Parasite Eve 1 or 2. We dont count the "third" one.

2D fighters are easier to get into if you understand how 2D fundamentals function:

- Prioritise crouch blocking
- Prioritise standing block if the opponent jumps toward you
- Standing anti-air if the opponent jumps (or air-to-air attack in anticipation)
- Mix-up between light low kicks and overheads

- Find safe pokes that can link into cancel combos (eg. special cancels)
- If possible know some frame data for neutral, safe, advantage & disadvantage moves for the cast

And some more stuff, but that's the gist of it. 3D fighters require you to know a lot more stuff due to the third dimension, large movesets and crapton of knowledge checks.

My totally biased opinion would say Darkstalkers or Capcom vs. SNK 2, but you'd probably kill me afterward.

So instead I'll say this... SAILOR MOON IS THE FUCKING SHIT!
