Interesting, Koei Tecmo apparently had the rights to Mortal Kombat in Japan, but KT chose not to distribute it mostly because of negative reception of the previous titles:

I just noticed that T8's current roster has not gotten a single -new- character for it's latest installment. Technically guests are also new characters, but T8 hasn't introduced an original either. Strange.

Obviously guests will be DLC which is good (depending on what it is), but I would imagine new originals would be DLC as well (probably?)

While I prefer fighting game characters rather than characters from shows/movies, I never thought they'd pick both. Interested in the dialogue between the two (if there's any in terms of heavy dialogue).
