eh, never cared for the guy anyway. I liked his Yang back in the days of SSF4AE but that's about it. People are going to be ignorant of DOA no matter what we do anyways.
I suppose people generally have their own taste of genre. You also have individuals that simply dislike anime fighters because it's not their taste (like me) however I wouldn't make the blunt move to just outright say that anime fighters aren't fighting games, simply because they also follow the meta approach in similarities to regular 2D fighters that you see now.
For Ari, I would of completely understood if he says "DOA is not my type of game, I don't like the stun mechanic and the counters. It's not for me." I would of totally felt him on that. Fighting games is a huge room of selections with which one you want to play, play what you like of course.
Though to say it's not a fighting game? I've never seen him try the games to provide reasons though, I'm sure people will still listen if he provided reasons as to why he thinks that. Not trying to defend DOA but the genre behind it - Personally... if it has two health bars, a timer, and the word Versus on it..it's a fighting game.
Who in the Sam-Hell is Ari? Whomever he is, needs to get Nyotengu hugged to oblivion. But, then again that's why @DestructionBomb exists. He is a bomb. He causes destruction.
you mean fLoE? I luv that guy but yeah i don't agree with his opinion on DOA at all. but then again, his opinion is one i think we've all heard alot throughout the years, "DOA is random! the counters are stupid! There's too much guessing! This game's just a boob fighter!"
Thanks buddy. Glad it wasn't Floe, I actually respect Floe. Wow, Aris really does not know what the fuck he's talking about. I can give some reasons why 2D fighters are more popular:
1. Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat are viewed as the face of fighting games
2. 3D fighters have no "face" aside from maybe Tekken. The father of 3D fighters, Virtua Fighter, is also one of the least popular fighting game series (in contrast to something like Street Fighter)
I also disagree with the notion that 2D fighters are easier to understand. If you don't know 2D fighters, they make no fucking sense, especially anime fighters. 3D fighters like SC or DOA are a helluva lot easier to tell what's going on visually. The FGC is just more accustomed to how 2D fighters operate and thus get "hyped" more.
Whatever. I am quite frankly sick of these pseudo-hardcore fuckboys taking the fun out of videogames by being judgemental towards shit they dont like or people that have a different perspective. It is what it is. I play to have fun and improve where I can. When it stops being fun then I have no reason to stick around. That happens the fastest whenever I play a tekken game but thats a different discussion.
Ah, Aris. I have yet to see him say anything moderately sensible. I'm actually quite glad he doesn't like DOA. It would be quite bothersome if his idiocy decided to start lurking on FSD.
