Yaiba is not popular, like, he is a giant flop, character-wise and game-wise, also, i think he is tied to Comcept in some way, so TN might not be exactly able to use the character freely.
@Crazy_Chin_Guy Not as edgy as Raidou and his rapage. I think Yaiba would be a great Raidou replacement, as a sort of high learning curve, high reward ninja.
He could fit, Yaiba flopped pretty hard though. Game didn't meet the profit and may not be profitable for DOA. He could actually be a waste of a slot in some sense so a huge doubt on this one.
@Legendary Goken So a guest character from a other game is a good replacement for the guy who is basically the reason of the series protagonists story ? Talk about logic there. Raidou is the reason Kasumi became a runaway ninja and the birth of Ayane.
@King Anubis I would love Raidou to be a permanent character in the roster, but boss characters usually come and go. Yaiba is a fresh ninja with his own game that is potentially on the same level as Ryu. And devs use marketing, not story logic.
I didn't like Yaiba's game either tbh. But the super ninja does need a rival, as opposed to a friend/partner like Hayate. And we also some extra villains.
The whole gimmick about yaiba is that he is too weak to even fight hayabusa. And the whole deal about ryu presence in DOA is that he is too powerful for anyone to fight him, and his "NG rivals" will always die at the end of their game as well.
