I started playing fighting games in January 2012 after a more than 15 years hiatus (hadn't played since around 95, which was before university, work, etc. took over). At most games I am not even past beginner level. At VF5FS and DOA5 I think I'm at least lower intermediate. I hope to continue...

I got a similar one once in VF5FS. A guy who played El Blaze by spamming the same combo over and over (+ super lag) had the balls to rage quit when I was winning. And when I sent him a message asking why, his answer: "I couldn't let you win. No combos" :confused:

I found my first 4 bar match today. It was against another Spaniard, so I might have to keep my matches against people from my country for better connection.

For me it's easier to find people in Simple Match on XBL. Ranked is both harder to find and full of crappy connections.

I play Shun Di in VF and I'm starting to really like Gen Fu in DOA...I'm beginning to worry I have this thing for old guys...LOL

I know. I'm just not the guy who's going to memorize a 50% life-bar combo. I admire people who can do that. I have the memory of a fish.

I like that about DOA too. I think VF is similar: A good read will take you further than execution. Probably the only two games that are that way nowadays, now that SC5 has been fucked IMO because of meter management. I don't know how many times I have found people online that could do half life...

I still haven't found a single 4-5 bar match. Only 1-3. And ranked seems to be full of laggers. Simple match for me.

After some more time with the game I have pretty much given up Kokoro and Helena (and all the other chinese martial arts practitioners) and reduced it to three characters: Pai, Gen Fu and Elliot.

After being destroyed by a Tina/Bayman player I think the reason some people think DOA is not competitive is the fact that some characters (not every character, like in DOA4) can get a lot of damage from playing pasively (waiting for the other to attack to throw and offensive hold or an advanced...

So I got into this room with a Tina/Bayman/Bass player and he totally destroyed me (I think I only won one match against Bass. There were some close matches too but in the end he won most). Seems grapplers can get a shit-ton of damage out of holds (whether they are offensive holds, 2 part holds...

Against both: Hold mid punch. If you don't do it in time with Gen Fu prepare yourself for an unholdable damage situation.

This goes without saying for anyone that comes from VF. :)

The buffer system is weird as fuck. I seem to input things too early.

I still haven't seen 4-5 connections. Only 1-3 connections. Playable but not Pro-playable. Still fun though. I'd say the netcode is better in general. I've never had massive crapshot lag like it happened sometimes before.

I downloaded the patch and played a few matches. They were all (1) or (2) connections. They were playable (except for one of the (1) ones that started lagging when the other guy started losing). I hope to find 3-5 connections at some point... There are still glitches though. I got invited to...

Maybe different regions different times?
