Dead or Alive 5: Remaining Issues

No, its not, I'm talking about the core issue. The most important thing - and I was being too short hand. It's the stun system and whether a stun is shakeable or can be countered from that allows you a guaranteed follow up or not.

Dead or Alive 5: Remaining Issues

I think its unrealistic to ask them to add animation to cancels at this stage, and its likely impractical in a play-flow perspective. The core issue is the stun game and whether there are solid enough guaranteed attacks.

Dead or Alive 5: Remaining Issues

The thing noone is saying here though is, when someone does a long delay on a move, they can be interrupted by another faster move or move with crush properties. Not saying it wouldn't be fine to adjust the delayable window, but there is an effect that the opponent can take advantage of.

    DOA: Flaws and Tournament Viability

The original feedback thread was to give people something solid and easy to copy and paste when they had the open feedback on the demo. So yeah, it was sent. Yes, there is the remaining issues thread but it's headed up with a bunch of general discussion first. It would be fine if the original...

    DOA: Flaws and Tournament Viability

Let me say I'm with you. I agree with you. I want the same changes you want (we only differ on the nuances - the degrees). We should ALSO be laying the groundwork to attend tournaments - lets plan for it to be a good game, because an anemic community response will hurt the game more than player...

    DOA: Flaws and Tournament Viability

A good point to give in feedback, but it doesn't mean the overall final balance of the game will not be tournament worthy. This is why I said the discussion around these things needs to be a nuanced one, as there are a number of degrees of change before you call any one example a dealbreaker on...

    DOA: Flaws and Tournament Viability

We need to move the baseline up. The game is better than the game that got those low turnouts. There is also a larger, more aware, more active fighting game tournament scene that the game is entering into. That includes EVO, which had much less awareness and attendance in 2006 when DOA had...

Tournament system of choice for DOA5?

Yeah, it's not really about Xbox players having to be prepared to play on ps3, it's whatever you own be prepared to play on either. Sure, Evo plays on ps3 but so many events run Xbox - I know in my area it's dominantly Xbox because its easier to work with. This is another reason for pad players...

DOA Gathering At Hollywood Bowl, Watford (Interest Check)

Sounds great, definitely good to run regular sessions. I'm not in England so can't attend, but good luck :) My only advice is to try and find local gaming groups that run sessions for multiple games, and join them to hold DOA sessions where other fighting players are present. That makes it...

    Sony All-Stars Battle Royale

The sony characters just don't excite me so it's hard to garner interest... even after seeing the highly respectable Seth Killian is on board... so I'm in the wait and see camp

Dead or Alive 5: Remaining Issues

Yes but if they counter and miss, they are at -17 with hi counter damage on the next hit or throw. I agree with the suggestions to ensure characters have certain moves and strings that grant advantage, tighten some delay moves (not all, it's a positive element of the game, just balance it as...

    DOA: Flaws and Tournament Viability

People will travel for the game if it's at big tournaments. Even if it doesn't improve much beyond the e3 build. Local communities will need to feed players into those tournaments and over time you new fans of the game to keep enjoying the game. So long as you have that, people will play. I can...

    DOA: Flaws and Tournament Viability

1: holds in stun won't turn people of he game just on principle if the game is balanced in terms of risk/reward/punishment. You'd have to be quite ignorant to hold it against the game rather than LEARN the game and how to work with its systems. It doesn't have to work like other games - again...

Dead Or Alive 5 E3 Build Experience

Also, this is SO MUCH BETTER and more competitive than games that do it the other way in my opinion. It's so refreshing to play under this throw system compared to SF, SC, etc.

New Dengeki (JPN) report with Sarah Bryant and Rig in action!

Looks so good! I was really happy in the Lei Fang/Akira vid to see after the armbreaker throw, Shimbori did LF's 6F+K and it hopped over Akira's low wakeup kick for a backturned setup. Nice. I don't see many CB's being used so it looks to be learner/intermediate level play here, but some nice...

Dead Or Alive 5 E3 Build Experience

The idea sounds good VP but how to communicate to the player the logic of what attacks use stun in such a system? Just make them learn the specifics by character, by wrote? I think if there's a certain logic to it (like at the end of strings, at a certain hit level... something) that can be...

Dead Or Alive 5 E3 Build Experience

No, they've also changed the stun properties, lessened the stuns, extended the recovery on holds, changed the conditions under which you can do a hold (both feet on ground), added lift stuns to wall hits for free combos... its quite a different game. On a related note to some of the earlier...
