Team Ninja shares additional details on the next Dead or Alive 5 patch

Defense is not only blocking. Back dashing, evasion, keep-away moves, and simply less button-pressing all may contribute to better defense.

I like the health change. I would even want it to be in 240-250 range.

It is special properties on "tip hit" (max range hit, when attack barely reaches). On tip hit some low attacks do half damage (on normal hit) and have different properties.

DrDogg, does this still stand with announced patch 1.03 changes to slippery surfaces?

Does the PS3 version run at a higher resolution?

Are you sure you understand what input delay is? Don't confuse "1 extra frame" with "3 frames overall". One frame input delay is impossible on either PS3 or Xbox. Three frames is practically the best possible input delay (~50 ms).

Does the PS3 version run at a higher resolution?

Click "source" there. It's not really contributing to the topic though.

Does the PS3 version run at a higher resolution?

Some fighting games are reportedly faster on PS3 than on Xbox 360 by 1 frame. PS3 version of Guilty Gear XX AC+ has 3 frames of input lag compared to 4 frames on 360 (source).

What would you change about DOA?

Negative frame advantage on hit is either to make you commit to a string, or to discourage some uses. For example, if a move is designed for counter hitting, has great range or evasion, stun or launch on counter hit, it can be negative on normal hit to compensate for that.

    Fuzzy Guard?

Fuzzy guarding works because of speed difference between throws and mids. If the opponent mixes up a throw and a mid of the same speed, fuzzy guarding won't defend against both.

What would you change about DOA?

The state that can be cancelled into stance attacks is called Dragon Stance.

What would you change about DOA?

OK. I thought you meant that you want stance options to be immediately available, i.e. stance transition to be instant. Jann Lee has at least two ways to get into Dragon stance directly.

What would you change about DOA?

8P takes 16 frames to perform transition. It's not instant.

What would you change about DOA?

I've used bold in the quote for a point of interest. Do you have an example of "instant" stance transition to illustrate your point?

What would you change about DOA?

Push blocking is a completely different thing. I'm talking about the distance set for every move that is created on block, you cannot increase or decrease it on will.

What would you change about DOA?

Since they have advantage after the string ends why would you want to be right next to them?
  19. D

What would you change about DOA?

Now speaking about attacking player. When your string is blocked do you generally want more or less pushback?
  20. D

What would you change about DOA?

I would like moves to have generally more pushback on block.
