I didn't say the next Xbox wouldn't have a disc drive. I see it still using DVD, just as PC does. And when I say I expect them to bank heavy on digital distribution, I see them releasing A LOT more games over XBL (including the full-release disc-based games), possibly allowing paying members...

As I said above, I expect Microsoft's next console to bank heavy on digital distribution, and also be setup to require installs of games to play (similar to PC). Standard HDDs of good size (500GB, 1TB, etc) are just getting cheaper and cheaper each year. You don't really need Blu-Ray discs...

Nonetheless, I still see it unlikely that Microsoft's next console implements Blu-Ray.

Since Blu-Ray is Sony's pet property, it's almost guaranteed that the next Playstation will continue with the format (especially for potential backwards-compatibility features). I personally would be surprised if Microsoft manages to get a BD-drive for their next console, as I don't see Sony...
