I don't think they were ever actually rivals in DOA4. The cabbage scene was just a dumb way to force them to fight. I don't think the DOAX2 cutscene meant anything for their relationship either. It just happened to be those two who did that.

Obviously, nothing will ever come of the Nyotengu x Ryu rivalry, just like all the other rivalries in DOA. And Bankotsubo never changed his fan from hand to hand. He always held it in his right hand. I've yet to actually notice Nyotengu change it either.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Bankotsubo could be knocked out of the air by lows, even though he should have been evading them. He did have crush frames in his flying moves, but there weren't as many of them as there should have been. For example, you could crush a low wake up kick with 7K...

For some dumb reason, Bankotsubo always could be. So probably.
