Whoa there. All I did was start a discussion. I'm not making any decisions here, I didn't even vote.

I was actually looking out for TO's like yourself Hubbs. Unless there is some kind of universal save transfer across systems (actually implemented and not just theory), getting that character available across multiple systems is a chore. Let alone one system.

In any fg we all know how these kind of polls go. Tons of votes come in despite the fact most of the people who vote in them don't even show up to events. People often get offended by such a comment (which isn't the intention) but its the truth.

Then you also have to consider the impact it would have on players that decided to main that character but don't have universal access to that character across all systems which could hold back a tournament or force them into a secondary.

In the end it doesn't really matter to me. If the grind is a non issue to you or whatever TO is running the tournament more power to them and this opinion is useless. Either way I will be up in that DOA bracket.

Doesn't it take like, 5 minutes of your time, a USB drive, a PC, and a resigning software to make all characters unlocked for all your console? I did this many times for DOA4 in order to avoid wasting my time to unlock the characters. (i.e. Tengu) It seems rather silly to ban a character for not being able to think outside of the (x)box.

Yes, ban the character that actually requires more skill to win with, that'll be the smartest thing I have yet to read here. Playing Alpha-152 is like playing regular Phoenix in MVC3... You knock her down one time and it is game over for Alpha.

So true. I just unlocked her myself a few nights ago, and my God is that annoying.

They should just ban everyone except Hayabusa.

Well, after 50 hours I finally unlocked her. After playing with her for a bit, I say "no." She has some powerful line-ups, but once you learn her weaknesses, she's open to worlds of punishment.

That said, people online have no idea how to fight her properly, so you can mop them up most of the time in ranked matches. -_-

See, I found that with Tengu on DOA4. I had no idea that he's apparently ass-tier, but I never had trouble winning with him online. Tengu, Leon & Helena got me to A- pretty quickly. I always put it down to people not knowing how to counter Tengu because he was a grind to get.

On topic though, I was concerned for a while that it would be like playing DOA4 Alpha all over again, but the second you fight her in the story mode I was like...seriously? That's it? I'm not far off from unlocking her myself now, but if someone picked her at a tournament I can't see myself throwing my toys out the pram and going home. She's just not all that to me.

The story mode is not a good indication of what she like in the hands of a player.
The most obvious difference is that she teleports less and spams that 4KKKKKKKK every goddamn second.

and 300 titles isn't even that long if you look at what some of the titles are.

vs mode, in 2 games set to 1 round on Scramble with a character you can get power blow, critical burst -> power blow, cliffhanger strike and cliffhanger throw titles @ like 3 minutes per character.

I'm just wondering, does anyone here think that they'll give her wake up kicks and not make her ridiculously unsafe or would that piss too many noobs off?

That was always my assumption. It took awhile to unlock him, and after unlocking him most people immediately dumped him because he was complete shit. Therefore, he was rarely seen and was confusing to many online players. I still mained him though and loved him.

I doubt that they'll give her wakeup kicks, but I would totally support it.

Yeah, I'd welcome it, but that is one of her biggest flaws (along with almost every combo ending in that "Float," sometimes backwards) intended to counter-balance her high damage, reach and speed.

Ban to teach Team Ninja that fighting games that strive to be tournament-viable should not have ANY tourney-legal chars locked. Especially NOT in a way that takes A LOT of time and effort to unlock.

Honestly, Team Ninja probably made Alpha so hard to unlock because they themselves are saying she's broken and they never had any intention of her being tourney-legal anyway.

Spend 2 minutes on youtube finding a video and 5 minutes copying a 100% unlock save and you have alpha on PS3 or Xbox360. Anyone can do this, and it would help TOs unlock other characters like Genfu and Pai without having to play through story mode as well. (Also takes awhile.)

As for Alpha, comments said so far are pretty accurate. She has really amazing damage on some moves, but the lack of a rising attack AND no damaging counters pretty much means people are gonna be in your face spamming attacks and there's little you can do about it. Without a rising kick you can't get any spacing either, so they're right there attacking the second you get up... leaving ALPHA at a huge disadvantage once you ever get on the ground.

I personally, despite this, still find her fun to play. It's a different style than any other character. Against noobs you can score easy wins with her high damage combos, but against skilled people you have to keep them from knocking you down and getting the initiative.Otherwise you're pretty much dead. I don't think she's top tier, nor do I think she should be banned. She's a decent character, but has to be played very differently. I'd be sad if she was considered banned since I like playing her. I also question why everyone (self included) call ALPHA a she. It's an IT, not a SHE. Maybe because she has boobs. haha.
