yeah TN backpeddled ten-fold on their "toned down sexualization" statement way back when. I guess NG3 being a complete flop critically and commercially had a huge hand in them scrambling back to promoting the game as the "titty fighter" the series is known best for to get as many sales as it can from as many horndog casuals as possible...

Yeah because the other major fighters aren't fighting in bikini's or anything. . . it's a game don't take it too seriously.

I don't mind the "back peddling" here. They haven't completely gone back on their word. Sure, the game still features some sexualized content, but it isn't what they've been pushing. TN has, for months on end, been pushing the improvements to the core gameplay, presentation and overall experience. I don't play DoA for the "sexy" factor but it's important to remember that DoA earned a lot initial fans using it. Many of those fans, myself included (I was 14 in 96'), gave it a shot BECAUSE it stood out and ultimately became hooked on it's gameplay and sheer fun factor. The sexual content is a novelty and doesn't keep or create communities like FSD. I could care less about the sex factor now, but one opinion does not a good business decision make. Team Ninja can't forget that they have a very large casual audience. At least they aren't doing "she kicks high" commercials.

Yeah...... they really didn't need to do this... I respect the game for what it is but they are way to perverted with it. I coulda swore they said they would focus on the competitive aspects of it rather than 3d porn..... I can only imagine what the pervs are gonna do with the camera mode.... O wait we have already seen Tina and Bass sharing some family love. SMH Team Ninja when will you learn....

Don't get me wrong, I like the beautiful women and even having bikini costumes. However, it is played up WAY too much, imo (if those ridiculous jiggle physics are any clue), and it's certainly not the focus of the game for me.

And I'm still advocating male swimsuits, too.

I doubt that it matters too much that Tina, Lisa and Christie are the only one with the super skimpy suits at this stage. We're bound to get a plethora of swimsuits as DLC in the not-too-distant future. Even if they didn't market DOA5 to be out and out TnA in the run up to release (and yes...they did back-pedal a LOT), it's pretty much the only thing they'll have to fall back on in the future, in order to fire interest in the game back up, once the new release hype has died down.

I mean, sure...the DOA community will continue to play for a long, long time, but the chance of new adopters 6 months down the line is probably pretty slim. If they overlook it now, there isn't much chance of them reconsidering next year. Once the hype has died down, the only thing that will make people look again is either a major price drop, or a hot girl wearing next to nothing. Sad, but true. At least if the bikinis lure people in, there's a good chance of a lot more people discovering what is, beneath all the jiggling, a very strong and deep fighting game.
