I'm still intrigued about that "RIG" character...

You guys familiar with Donnie Yen's IP Man? I think it would be crazy to have a character based on him!

Although "RIG" would be a horrible name for him lol

Wouldn't that kind of be Jann Lee? He trained Bruce Lee, who Jann Lee is based off of. It's not the same fighting style, but it's similar.

Could be great material for Jann Lee's rival... Plus a love triangle with Lei Fang (oh the cliché...) lol

I'm still set on a TKD and Boxing character.

One or both that match the person in your avatar would be a nice rival character.

If I remember correctly, :zack: is supposed to be :jannlee:'s rival though.

Well I'll be darned. And I couldn't make it tonight. I've got a job interview tomorrow morning, so I'm getting a good night's sleep for a change haha. I'll be around on Saturday though.

Yes, TKD & Boxing would be new by DOA standards, but in terms of fighting games, it's kind of a been there-done that thing... Whereas Wing Chun hasn't officially been used in a fighting game yet. (Unless someone in this forum can prove me wrong)

The reason Wing Chun hasn't been used is because it's a less visually interesting antecedent of a style that's already in most games, Jun Fan JKD. It's the same reason no one uses freestyle wrestling when we have pro wrestlers in every game.

I'd really like to see something like Taekwondo, but now that they went back to 4-point (which I greatly appreciate) it could become problematic because of its strong emphasis on kicks. Judo would be cool, too.

well u still got a chance with rig or mila...

to be honest i just want more vf :( ..
but it seems we're stuck with the 3 characters

wolf and kage dlc ... thats all i ask for .. >___>
(and tengu/leon/ein if they arent unlockable :( )

seriously .. i hope this game becomes successful so we can have a true DOA vs VF ... mmm that would be a dream come true.. seriously probably the only crossover out there that makes fricken sense

One may come from the other, but I find both styles, signature moves, and characters completely different. Plus, how many versions of Ninjutsu are in DOA?

More VF character would definitively be nice! I somehow feel that there might be more than meets the eye :) We might be in for a few surprises!

I can't be the only person who thinks that 3 VF characters is too much (although I'm a Sarah player so I'm not really complaining). It's just that they've given three character slots to guest characters, and only maybe two to new characters of their own franchise. They could have only put in Akira and it would have been just as interesting, and created two more new DOA characters.

Also, for some reason I'm expecting one of the new characters to have Nicole's move set (minus plasma grenades). I don't know why.

Now all you have to do is convince a developer to agree with you instead of picking readily available styles that are much more visually distinct. You'd probably see another JKD character in DOA before a Wing Chun one. And if you did get a "Wing Chun" character in name, the addition of kicks above the waist they'd need to add would make it, in effect, look like another form of JF JKD.

And using the number of ninja characters in a Team Ninja game to support your case is sort of head scratching. You'd have a better point with professional wrestlers. But again, there's a reason we have American strong style, puroresu, and lucha libre instead of greco-roman, freestyle, and catch wrestling (all of which have been incorporated into the previously mentioned styles).
