Has anyone else noticed this? DOA5 is the only game in the series that doesn't have a Danger Zone stage.
If they should bring any version of Danger Zone back it should be the DOA2U version.

We don't need any specific combo of gender or race. "Token characters" like that rarely ever turn out well and are actually quite insulting to the group(s) they allegedly intend to represent (I mean, Zack?).

What we need is cool characters with FUN AND FLASHY FIGHTING STYLES. If that matches well with any race or sex then go ahead and be creative. But having a "black male" or "korean female" just for the sake of having one is a terrible idea.

We need this character, we need that costume...im so sick of this crap. Do you know what we really need? Solid game mechanics. If the clothes the characters are wearing is all you think about you should pick up the sims. I heard it has character creation aswell...

This game is gonna have proper gameplay and all dat stuff, I think this is the perfect opportunity to ask for stages, costumes, and characters. They are already changing the way the game plays and are improving it. Besides didn't master give them an interview or something? I'm sure they'll listen to those suggestions

I'm not saying asking for that isn't important, not at all. But I think something like this should be asked for anything other then that. Especially stages and costumes since they aren't enough of them. And although I'm good with the cast now, The more the better

Couple things to take into consideration. First, it's obvious that they're listening to the Japanese community first for gameplay mechanics, and they always seem to take precedence. We can suggest certain move properties be tweaked (and sometimes they are) but ultimately the "big gameplay changes" that many here ask for just aren't gonna happen. No holds out of stun? 3 hit CBs for all? I just don't see it happening. It's not the game TN wants to make, it's not the one the Japenese players seem to want to play, and it isn't going to be the one we'll get. With things like hairstyles or w/e, they don't have to choose per-se, so the likelihood of success is higher when asking for such things, and thus it is more logical to do so (see the study on "why people vote" for better emphasis).

Let's put this in an analogy to demonstrate: TN makes a sculpture of a half-nude lady. When you press her hand, she lifts her arm and raises a rope that makes a bucket emerge from a nearby pool with water in it so you can drink it. The Japanese go: "Oh, shit. Best well ever! Let's drink from this! Oh, by the way, any chance you can make the rope a chain so it doesn't break and is more sturdy?" Then the Americans/West goes: "Yeah, this is lame. You should have made a catapult, instead." Then the casuals go: "Sweet! Oh, but can you make it so we can put some different hats on her and there's an iPod home built into her side? Whatever liquid you want is fine. Functionality-wise I trust you guys to make what you will."
So, who is TN going to listen to? Japanese, Casuals, then Americans. That's why people ask for what they do. It's true, casuals don't often ask for gameplay changes... and that's good! I don't want a bunch of casuals making the game. Fn' hell, it'd be a mess! So let them stick with what they know.

End note: This isn't meant to support or diss any proposed gameplay alterations or existing ones. Just my take on how TN is going about their business.

You need good game mechanics and good flare/features to make an engaging game. One of those is more in our control than the other. By all means, advocate gameplay changes, but telling people to stop asking for other cool features? That's dumb. Stop.

Oh, and I would way rather be able to play as Leon again than get a 3 hit CB, and that is gameplay related. Just saying.

It's not a matter of having a black character for the sake of having a black one, it's having one for the sake of having a respectable one. I'm not racist or bleeding heart for blacks or anything like that. But looking at the cast, the only black character is the joke of the game. I mean I don't care that there's only one rep and might be a little bothered if there wasn't any but I'd survive it but we didn't have any black rep, but we get one and that's who we get?

While I appreciate that Zack doesn't fit any type of stereotype for a black character, it doesn't matter because he sucks as a character regardless. I'm not against characters made for the sake of comic relief, but I'd like to have a respectable black character with a cool non-stereotypical fighting style (Looking at you, boxing.) and one that doesn't act like a old crazy Japanese man on too much medication. We can have Zack too, but you get my point.

So preDOA5 Zack, then.
He was less of a joke, but still a joke. He's been wearing alien suits, dancing around and had nonsensical quotes since DOA1. Though DOA1-3 had the best versions of Zack.
Can you say stereotyping??
:confused:Why would you want a serious black character?
That's like saying a white/asian character being serious is a stereotype, that makes no sense. A stereotypical black character would fall into the category of having a boxing oriented style, less than stellar speech, some sort of connection to "the hood". Speech like "nigga" "dog" in his vocabulary and over using it consistently. We can have a non-stereo typical black character without making him act like a clown.

No. In DOA1-4, he was eccentric (Mostly just style of dress, but really, he was rich and competent enough that he could afford to be quirky), but far from a joke. Keep in mind that he almost always came in one of the top spots of the tournament, he's a very capable fighter, and generally very wealthy and successful.

Then suddenly in DOA5, they had him acting like a total buffoon, getting disregarded by the cast, losing every fight...it was just stupid.

I think the point was "Why does the black guy have to be turned into a specific "type" of black guy?"

It's not so much a specific type he has to be, just that that being the character we ended up getting sucked was where I was going.

Zeo Why should you care? You don't even play as him!

Because I don't like him, for obvious reasons. He has a decent fighting style and some good tools, but I hate the character. So why would I use him? Does that mean I shouldn't think we should have another black character that doesn't wear alien suits, have green hair and fire beams out of his eyes just for the sake of being different?

Look if you like Zack that's awesome, it's cool his craziness appeals to some people. But it doesn't appeal to me and I'd like a more regular character that doesn't wear clown suits and fire beams out of his eyes. Is that unresonable?

I am inclined to agree I had much less of an issue with him in older games. He was silly but much more respectable. In 4 he started getting weirder but 5 was the icing on the cake. Zack is fodder and the game consistently lets you know that as he loses to every single character he fights and is laying on the floor in some nonsensical position. Yet people get up in arms against me when I simply ask for a black character that's.... not him? I guess there's just nothing else to talk about at the moment.
