Dead or Alive: Bloodshed – From Fighting Game to Board Game!

I mentioned before that I was working on something this community has never seen before... now it's time to reveal it!

A fighting game turned into a board game!

This is a 1v1 PvP experience where you'll need to collect PKHT (Punch, Kick, Hold, Throw) cards to execute your character's moves. When your opponent's life hits zero, they're out of the ring!

The idea came to me one day while I was brainstorming. I thought it would be cool to collect tokens for punches, kicks, holds, and throws (essentially the core moveset of a character) to perform attacks and defeat your opponent in a 1v1 board game PvP battle. I started experimenting, made a prototype, and played it both with others and by myself. It turned out to be incredibly fun!

So I decided to take it seriously, gave the game a name, and began designing everything: the board, the cards, and all the components it needed. I’ve been wanting to announce this for a long time, but I felt it was better to wait until the game was closer to completion so I could share something solid with you all and gauge your interest.

The best part? The game will be
completely free to print and play! I’ll also provide a detailed tutorial on how to assemble everything so you can dive in easily.

I hope the Dead or Alive community enjoys this project as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it.
Please share this with everyone, it would mean the world to me! ❤️

Meet the cast that is currently in the game!

What a cool idea! Let us know how your progress is going; keep us informed! Looking forward to the board game! Glad to hear that it's free; otherwise, you would be at the mercy of Koei Tecmo.

Hi everyone! Lately, I’ve been working on balancing the game to make it more dynamic and fair. I’m adjusting the characters’ attacks, tweaking some rules, and testing how everything plays out during matches.

Ayane is ready! Her moveset is very unique. I haven’t created the graphics yet because I’m still testing her on the board alongside the rest of the cast.

I’m also designing the PDF sheets to make the game printable. Soon, once I’m satisfied with the changes, I’ll start working on the rulebook, which will also be printable.

Interesting to see someone decide to make something like this, but unfortunately everyone who knows me knows I intentionally spell it "bored games", lol. Just wanted to say that, imo, the subtitle sounds more appropriate for a Ninja Gaiden than a DOA.

I mean... you can always make your own. Back in second grade, that's what I did. It had a dragon in it. Shit was pretty metal.

Personally I think projects like this are pretty cool.

Hello everyone, I've made a lot of progress. The manual is already finished and the PDFs are almost ready. I just need to balance a few characters, but it's not too much.

As you can see, I've already added Ayane since I have her visuals ready, and I've included a preview of the manual's cover, this manual is going to be very small, about 8x11cm.

There's so little left that I dare say everything will be ready by next week, and I hope that's the case. Thank you very much for your support!

Hello everyone, how's it going? I’m still working on the game’s design, and there isn’t much left to do. I’ve already finished the “Trading Table,” but while I was working on it, I started thinking about something... you see, there are tokens and game pieces that will never be seen from the other side, like the “Trading Table,” which should always display the exchanges, so first, i wasn't going to make a backside for it, but then i realized this didn’t look right, so I made it.

Then I thought, if I add a backside here, that means I should also add one to the characters’ movement boards. These boards are already quite large, and printing a backside would use a lot of ink for some users., that’s why I was considering offering two PDF options: one with backsides for design consistency and one without backsides (since they won’t be seen), so it won't waste too much ink on your printer. What do you all think about this?

Now that the DOA Blackjack project is over, I’ll keep working on this board game. I’m currently preparing the assembly manual since I won’t be able to make a video showing how to assemble the whole thing. I’m also making some small adjustments to keep the game balanced.

In an update, I finished the assembly manual for DOA Bloodshed, so I'm very close to completion. What remains to be done is adding the changes to the cards to balance them, and that should be all. I'm also creating an itch.io page to upload the game.

Hey, how's it going? Right now, I’m working on the Itch.io page to publish the game. Yes, it’s all ready! I just need to add some final touches and make a short trailer to announce the board game.

I also put together a LITE version, which includes the full game but in a more compact format, no card backs or extra printing. This helped save a lot of paper. The full game takes 65 pages, which might seem like a lot, but it's actually pretty standard. Meanwhile, the LITE version only needs 34 pages. Besides saving ink, its purpose is to encourage more people to try the game, since I know that printing 65 pages can be a big barrier for some.

Of course, I know that not everyone will try the game, but that’s something I had already considered from the start. After all, I started this project because I believed in the idea and was excited to bring it to life.

In the future, my goal is to manufacture a physical version with professional materials. But for now, I’d love for you to check out the game, and maybe even give it a try!

See you all soon with the game's launch!
