There's a possibility that the new character could be Donovan. He's been mentioned since DOA1 but has never appeared in a DOA game.

I don't think so, TN spoke about the "resurrection" of a character similar to what happened to Nyotengu.
Donovan isn't dead and never had any moveset.

Only two options are Genra and Raidou.

This gives us 5 potential "newcomers" :
- Original Raidou ressurected by science/magic
- Original Genra ressurected by science/magic
- Raidou's inheritor : his bastard son, student, admiror, whatever
- Genra's inheritor : his bastard son, student, admiror, whatever
- A male ninja OR Donovan having both movesets for some reason

I personally didn't request Raidou, but I'm ready to welcome him, provided he brings something new.

Problem with Raidou is that he had no real individuality, something Ein, Leon and Tengu had in previous installments. Ein was a very straightforward striker, Leon was a blunt powerhouse (with no option from backstance) and Tengu had Tengu-do which was very wonky and powerful.

Good thing is that these three characters' movesets were not as detailed as in DOA5U before, and TN did a great job in DOA5U to rework them a little bit, so the same thing could happen with Raidou's moveset.

My hope and guess is that he will have even more iconic moves from other characters (same damage/properties) + Sky Torn Blast. He should have some technics from Genra too. He's nothing more than a mimick character to me after all, but that's a good thing. He just needs more mimick moves.

I agree with you for the last part, but about the individuality matter (putting aside that Raidou has personal throws and holds that ended to be increased in DoAD together with his "red beam") the one of the DoA1 Boss is just his mimicry, that we like it or less. So to expand his moveset with the iconic moves of the roster means just to increase it: people need to realize that, even if you don't include new moves, to make of a character the copy of only one give you a clone but to make of a character the copy of more ones give you a very different outcome, with a character that ends to be played in a different way compared to his sources.

And yes, Sky Torn Blast would be a must! ;)

he would have no reason to have his character adjusted since hes alive and relevant.

Donovan is obsessed from the creation of the perfect fighter and the end of Doa5 revealed how Rig was looking for the collection of datas very likely tied to the fighters. Fans stated more times how would make sense to introduce this character in the series giving to him a moveset similar to the one of Raidou (and/or Genra, if Donovan is an ex-Hajinmon ninja)

Of course this doesn't mean that the only moveset that can get Donovan is a mixture of moves from the roster, it's a logical scenario but not the only one.

Actually the one to talk of resurrection was the interviewer, by the way the recent link posted talked of the hypothesis to bring back an old character in the same way done with Nyotengu, so bringing back an old moveset in a new character (so the scenario of Raidou/Genra's moveset used from Donovan is a plausible one).

Still saying it's Donovan w/ Genra's moveset. Would like to see some of Raidou's throws incorporated as well but I have a feeling the Tyrant stance will return. :genra:

I would like to see an old woman in a fighting game some day. It's cruel we always have old men, but not old women. What's wrong with old women? Do they stop to fight once they have menopause or they aren't not enough beautiful to be a fighter? A female fighter without sexual interest (or the same sex-appeal that Gen Fu can have) could be cool, as an innovation.

GenFu (DOA), Heiachi (Tekken), Gouki and Gen (SF), Chin, Jubei and Tung Fu Rue (KOF), Shang Tsung (MK) just to name some... Why not a female counter part?
Some Japanese developers have something against a woman over forty in fighting games (cannoned plot wise). Someone like the Boss (from MGS3) would be nice.

Well at least we can debunk the "Isabella" reveal given TN's note that she is the "biggest" in DOA (and her listed measurements, height, and weight would not put her in that category).

So, male character is potentially someone we've never seen before with Raidou's old moves?

Commencing Phase-2. Maybe I should update this.

I just hope the big part of the female character is muscle, and that it's because she's a Military Girl.

Unfortunately the chances of that happening are slim to none. They already said the new girl fully utilizes the "soft engine" and is a favorite among the developing team. If we've learned anything from TN this is their ideal woman:

No, I'm just apathetic and tired of people whining about something that they don't really care about.

If people were truly dying for Raidou's return, they would have been asking for him since pre-5 vanilla's launch, as they were with Leon and Tengu. But there wasn't even a peep. Raidou is just something that people picked up on after TN wrecked Tengu, seeing it as another chance to get some old male character in that hardly anyone ever played. Because asking TN for a bunch of stuff is really trendy. But now people are "devastated" that their favorite character they never asked for and never played might not come back? Uh-huh.

inb4: "No, you don't understand..." Yeah, not gonna do that dance. Responding to this post will be shouting at a wall.

For me, the main reason I want it to be Raidou is that I simply feel that he got...snubbed without really knowing WHAT happened to him in the intervening time. I mean seriously, it's been hinted that Raidou became a demon somehow in that interim(how the fuck you explain Ayane's hair and eyes?), he learned how to mimic moves by watching them and he's pretty much became a complete beast that could destroy Ayane and Hayate combined, which nicely made Kasumi kicking his ass help show off her potential(FUCK OFF DIMENSIONS, Ryu never helped her).

If ANYTHING, I'd rather it be Old Man Raidou or a Younger Raidou like Tekken did with Heihachi in TTT2. But through cloning for obvious reasons.

Thank you!! XD When this Raidou demand explosion came out of nowhere and everyone started begging for him, (with the majority initially not even knowing that most of his moves are copied from other fighters btw) and justifying why his appearance alone should be enough reason for his inclusion I couldn't understand the hype and was like:

Oh come on now, David. That's unfair.

If Eliot finally got a man card and you were super-hyped, I wouldn't need crazy pills to understand you.

So did TN ever hint at when they'd show off miss tig ol bitties? If they actually make a new model for her that'd be kinda hype . Right now all the girls have the same proportions except Marie

I do really hope, that there are more stages. I like Crimson, I like the new Dangerzone stage but I expect more than two new stages since people begging for some of these in ages:

- Koku An
- Seaside Market
- Demon Church
- Aerial Garden
- White Storm
- Rayhouse (me ^^)

My guess is, that TN wants to keep surprises - I'm pretty sure, that at least Arial Garden will be a part of Last Round, simply because I read requests everywhere.

"Isabella, what big arms you have!
- All the better to hug you with, my dear.
- Isabella, what big legs you have!
-All the better to run with, my child.
-Isabella, what big ears you have!
-All the better to hear with, my child.
-Isabella, what big eyes you have!
-All the better to see with, my child.
-Isabella, what big teeth you have got!
-All the better to eat you up with."

What if the new biggest character was THE wolf? lol
