Holy crap, the jewelery in DOA5 shows embroidery and DOA6's doesn't! I mean, sure it seems like a small detail and it's not something most people would notice while playing, but it's still one clear example of the differences between DOA5's and DOA6's development. In DOA5 that was an example of attention to detail. Somehow they had the time, talent, and budget for that. DOA6's version is just an example of laziness. You'd think it was logical to believe the game made for a newer generation of consoles would take what the previous one did and do it better, but nope.

It kind of looks like the result of a smoothing tessellation filter. There might be more polygons in the DOA6 jewelry, but the original shape/carvings got softened out.

This mod is for disable broken reflection and ambient occlusion on characters.

Just put the .g1s file to redelbe/system folder.

Yeah, I noticed this weird issue on the character models. I wondered if it was some low resolution shader that was supposed to imitate sweaty shine and reflection but just looked really bad. The weird thing is it is sometimes there and sometimes not. I do not have it on all of my photos. I was just looking through them.

Speaking of photos, can we for a second say something positive about the DOA series and even DOA6? :) It was one of the first games ever that introduced a camera or photo mode. It started already back with DOA2 Ultimate in 2004. Since then that mode has been improving each iteration...well, DOA6's photo mode did actually not improve much over DOA5's...but at least they didn't cut it, right? ;P And to this day DOA is the only fighting game with a proper photo mode like this. (There are some similar but much more rudimentary ones in games like Smach Bros.)

To celebrate that lemme share some of my photos for a change in here. :)

In the right light, from the right angle and when you cut out all of the wonky stuff DOA6 can be a pretty game. :)

Yeah, texture resolution and compression is pretty bad in this game. The ugly colorbanding that results from it is especially visible on dark costumes like Hayabusa's default.
What also annoys me a lot are the warped/stretched textures on many costumes:

Come on, TN, this is Hayate's brand new default costume, why does it look this bad?
Stuff like this is frankly pure laziness. They know it is there and they could've gone back and fixed it in little time...but they just don't.

I was really impressed by Spider-Man's/Peter Parkers body model in Marvel's Spider-Man. It's not just anatomically correct, incredibly well modelled and textured (even Peter Parker's three chest hairs, lol), but when I got to talk to the 3D artist who made this model on Twitter, he told me he also made sure to make it attractive/sexy (give it that V shape, give extra definition to certain muscles....and bulges, lol.). That's the one thing most developers still don't pay attention to, even when they get the first two aspects right (anatomically correct, high quality model.)

DOA6 gets all three aspects wrong... Well, here's hoping for DOA7. ;)

I know this post is from last year, but Spiderman's body model here does kinda put the male bodies in DOA6 to shame.

Dat booty and frontal package though:thumbs up:
