Favorite Stages

I made a comparison actually this make me sick I don't want to think about this I mean DOA5 graphic engine hurts my brain. Maybe you can't tell which one is belong to our powerful seventh gen console so I tried to help. This is really embarrasing at least for me. People say stage graphics look bad because they wasted power for character graphics yeah I thought about this but I think this isn't the reason. Graphic engine look like ımmm something....something wrong with the graphic engine....Look at DOA3 stage it is so atmospheric it isn't about bright colors...how smooth, texture details...on the other hand DOA5 stage look so colorful and ugly and kinda annoying of course there are some better things about the new remake version for example water effects etc but overall it sucks...Same for new Lost World remake they all look lame they made me hate those favourite stages with those new remakes. Remakes ruined them.

I don't like (like it but not so much) Aerial Gardens and I think this stage is similar to Lost World and it isn't suitable for Tengu. My other favourite stages other than DOATEC, Lorelei, Aquarium are Demon's Church and The Koku An especially The Koku and is very interactive stage even more interactive than DOA5 stages lol.

But to be honest I don't want to see their return becuase they will ruin them too. But again I want to see them better than nothing you know :)

The colors and the brightness come from the various complaints of the people, so I can't blame TN for having decided to take this decision with the remake of the DoA3 stages.

People in DoA5 complained about the too much excessive darkness and "grey" colors, an aspect of the stages very likely decided because considered perfect for a more serious approach of the game (in both the story and the competitive side). It's not a case that after to have listened to the critics, TN released DoA5U increasing the general saturation of the game (or so seem to me) and porting a Forest and a Lorelei definitely more vivid in the colors, together with 3 stages with a great play of colors and light (the three ones from the NG series).

In the end, thinking to do the best for not deluding the fans, TN decided to apply a "redesign" also to the old DoA3 stages: I know that the comparison of the atmosphere with the old Forest and Lost World is surely different, but actually I really like the version of DoA5U (of course just my personal opinion).

By the way, even if again there is a different atmosphere, personally I think to prefer the Doa5U original Lorelei to the DoA3's one, so in my opinion I can't be fearful to see new remakes of old stages XD

Yeah in terms of design DOA5 looks good but it is blurry and not too deep and clear. And in action DOA5 isn't smooth imo. I think they shouldn't listen fans :) LoL they turned autumn into summer breeze for the sake of fans :) Of course they don't put much effort for remakes like they did for the originals it isn't surprising.

I think that this could be an effect of the low resolution of the pictures that I posted, the outcome is much more better in the HQ ones.

But Haunted Lorelei seems to me one of (if not the most) detailed stage in the game...

Both Forests look stunning IMO. Same goes for Lost World and Lorelei. DOA3's and DOA5U's stages have different styles, but I wouldn't say that any of the DOA3 stages declined in quality. Besides, DOA3 was absolutely beautiful and looks just as good as half of the Xbox 360's games honestly. It's kind of hard to improve on something like that and TN did a great job.

You are right what can I say? Lorelei is the best DOA5 stage, agreed :) Actualy by effort I meant brainstorming, first spark not polishing.

In the end these are my same thoughts, more in my opinion the decision to renew the design of an old stage without recycling completely it is in itself a good thing indipendently by the final outcome (of course then everyone has to be free to prefer the old version if doesn't like the work done with the remake).

DOA3's Forest looked (well still looks...) overly dark IMO. It did create an illusion of depth but there was a kind of "greyness" to its overall feel. I loved the water effects in the side corner thoughs. DOA5U's Forest looks incredible and more lively thanks to the vibrant colours. When I go back to DOA3, its Forest just looks so dull now by today's standards, aside from the water stream. Same with the Lost World, DOA3's Lost World had a kind of "greyish" look to it, whereas DOA5U's looks extremely vibrant and breathtaking.

DOA5's general problem with its stages were the theme (too much focus around labs and oil rigs, etc.), and the general colour scheme. Too much brown and grey (Yuck!). Older DOA's such as DOA2U & DOA4, for example, had much better overall colour schemes than DOA5, which lent itself to much more visually appealing stages. On the otherhand, DOA5's stages have better danger zones.

Another thing I don't like about the stages is obsessiveness of full moon. And sanctuary, primal, lost world all has same boring green, rock colors are all nearly same. As if those stages are same stage. Boring.

Interesting thing you pointed out @gnooz. I never knew we had 4 stages (counting both versions of Lorelei) that features a full moon.

Personally, I would want more stages with rainbows like Flow (at the edge of the waterfalls) and Lost World. In general, more bright stages. A lot of Vanilla 5 stages just seemed too dark and depressing.

Nothing wrong with how Sanctuary or Primal look. Primal is one of the relatively visually appealing DOA5 stages (I know, not saying much). Lost World is utterly stunning in 5U. Arguably the best looking stage visually (playing on it is a pain in the ass however unless you're Hayabusa or Leon).

Though when we come down to it, DOA5U's stages still kick the shit out of the stages of the relatively boring stages of 3D fighters (aside from some past DOA's of course).

I really don't like the fact that a lot of the DLCs being showcased are usually featured in Zack Island, Street or Forest as if it were the only stages that ever did mattered. I would have wanted TN to use the other stages like Sky City Tokyo, Lost World, Arrival, Aircraft Carrier, Lab, Sanctuary or Depth.

I'm pretty sure the Santas DLC featured the Ice stage, the Warrior's Orchi featured Sky City Tokyo, and Pop Divas featured DOA and/or Fighting Entertainment. So Zack Island, Street, and Forest aren't the only stages that showcase DLC.

Considering that every other DLC ends up involving skimpy swimwear, it's no wonder Zack's Island is used so much. Forest was appropriately chosen for the outstanding casual DLC's and Fall wear.

But there's less of them. :/

The Vanilla 5CE DLCs and Pre-order Bunny DLCs used to feature the girls in Flow/Primal before we even received Zack Island. I honestly felt some of the stages are underused. Ayane and Hitomi's casual DLCs had a Steam Punk theme. I think they could have featured that better on Fuel or Arrival.
