Ein used to be my favorite character, as well, but you don't see me STUCK on the fact that he's gone. There are other characters besides Ein, Leon, and Tengu. 24 of them, to be exact.

Why not 26? Why not fill up those spaces on the third row for a max of 29? There are certainly enough DOA characters for them to add into DOA5, and that's all i'm saying.
Personally, I will miss Leon a great deal. He was my main in DOA:U, and with Bayman's DOA4/5 changes, they feel completely different to me. It won't ruin the game not having him in there, but it's definitely a noticeable hit (especially for those who have mained him since DOA2, or who have used Bayman's old style). I've been waiting since the first DOA5 teaser for his reveal, holding out hope that he wouldn't be forgotten. But at this point, it seems like he'll be the only one in the leaked roster unfortunate enough not to have made the cut, which saddens me greatly.
On a side note: With the new DOA5 visual style, Leon would look totally badass. Just throwing that out there.
I'd also like to see Tengu and Ein, but personally Leon is the one I'll miss most.

LOL no offense but Ein does not make sense in this game, yes he was awesome but how can he be in a game when Hayate has his full memories? He was only in 4 to just be put there he had no story or actual purpose. Leon has no reason to enter the tournament anymore he proved his worth in 3 and canon wise to be in 5 makes no sense he was put in 4 just to fill empty spaces. Tengu..... do i really have to get into this one? he's dead get over it like the other 2 just a filler and wasn't even worth unlocking unless you truly liked him. So I understand many are upset your favorites are no longer in the game but DOA is not the only game to cut certain characters see Tekken 4,Soul Calibur 4 hell the MK series etc. maybe they will be in another DOA or you can blast them with tweets till they breakdown and add them...slim chance but anything is possible.

Posts like these are the ones that get me going on defending Team Ninja and their characters they've created over the years. It'd be a shame if Team Ninja came to this site and had to read something like that, without a response of something like "LEON, EIN, TENGU, RAIDOU, AND GENRA ARE ALL GREAT CHARACTERS, AND WOULD BE EVEN MORE AMAZING/BALANCED/UNIQUE CONSIDERING ALL THE CHANGES THAT EACH CHARACTER HAS GONE THROUGH FOR DOA5 ALREADY."
@Pink Font Lady Whose Name I Don't Particularily Feel Like Writing Out: I'm not sure about you, but the canon is so confused in DOA, that's not really where my focus is. If they want to iron it out to be more sensible without sacrificing gameplay/features, I'm okay with that, but I would rather have more fighters with more cool, unique playstyles than have a canon that makes sense.
I mean, they just blended the universe of Virtua Fighter with Ninja Gaiden, which possibly does or does not connect with Warriors Oriochi. Using canon as a justification for limitation of features does not make any sense to me in the case of DOA.

I'm just going to point out, again, that characters in a fighting game, particularly outside of an actual Story mode, do not need to make any sense whatsoever canonically. I know that's exactly what Brute said but that ridiculously hard to read post several up from here (bright pink is not fun to read and you shouldn't pick it just because it's there goddamnit) made me feel like reiterating.

so plot related reasons are reason enough to cut characters from being in the game completely now? really? might as well cut everyone not a ninja or part of the doatec drama then because the rest of the cast offers nothing to the storyline other than filler. if TN had competent writers they could've easily fit Leon into the storyline. heres some fanfic work i came up with in 20 seconds that makes more sense than anything TN came up with for the filler cast...
moving on from moping about his dead bitch leon continued doing his work as a merc for higher. one day he gets a text from his only black friend in the world ; zack who now works for helena who needs protection and security from attempts on her life during her revitalization of doatec. Leon being a veteran and professional ass kicker was the perfect candidate and accepts the job(for an extremely large sum of money i might add) and is hired . he enters the tournament to viciously and maniacally beat the shit out of anyone that attempts to hurt this weak frail bottom tier bitch.
BAM! storyline reason to enter the tournament.

Actually I proposed an easier plot to Hayashi for Leon ...
and he actually liked it ...
I just said ... why not make it so that Roland was dead as a result of one of Donovans experiments and now Leon wants revenge.... and he was like thats a good idea .. bam ..I said you can also explain the rivalry of bayman and Leon and the unexplained relation between him and zack ..
then when asked about Ein he said well isnt he basically Hayate? i said .. well why dont you make it so that there was actually more to DOA2's epsilon project and that they were infact successful in producing one perfect clone of Hayate ... Bam! instant Ein ... actually I was going to propose that what if the Hayate we have now is the clone ... and that the real Hayate is kinda mind fucked in dillusion somewhere... but I thought that would be pushing it a little...
