Final charcter select screen (all characters)

If I knew I was competing with Harada aka Tekken dude, I wouldn't cut no character because I know I will lose a few fans and some profit. The public would be like man Tekken is giving you all those characters, what... DOA 5 is cutting some characters...Tekken looks better for your buck because they have better service. Of course the competitive community may care less with only a minor few-who knows/ I know I'm still buying it.
Well I would cut Kasumi Alpha (Red Ninja Kasumi) she'll be replaced by Momiji. For Leon I would change him to Vale Tudo, keep his own signature moves that made him Leon, and take out his Bayman- like moves replacing those with Vale Tudo moves (he's kind of similar to Vale Tudo any ways). I would make Ein not relative to Hayate at all, he would be Evil Ein (a clone)- add a red aura, give him black hair and of course more original moves-there's many ways to make a story out of that. Shiden will have a complete new move set. I would add MC Hammer and a MC Hammer stage to compete with Snoop Dogg because MC Hammer dance girls have bigger butts lol. Unfortunately this is not my game or my characters darn-it lol.
I really hate it when peoples talk about others game in another games forums but, for Tekken, it's true that they have a lot of characters but most of them are clones with a few different moves. Harada is cheating the Tekken fans but they don't even know it. If you subtracts all the clone, they would have only about 25 characters at most. Not to mention, what's the point of having so many characters if you see only 10 of them are being used throughout online and even tournaments? Tekken might look like having a lot but it actually isn't. It seem that you only care about numbers.

Leon and Bayman barely shared any moves whatsoever in DOA4. I don't even know you're talking about. They play very differently.
Not true. p2p, kk, 3p, 6k, 1p, 3k, pp4p, 2k, 8p, 66p were almost exactly the same or very similar, with some variation in the follow ups. The biggest thing that set them apart were their throws.

Also: Every character played exactly the same in DOA4.

Not to confuse you, but Tekken has an adoring fanbase, and unlike DOA, has been respected in fighting game communities more-so. Harada isn't cheating fans of Tekken. It's actually admirable regarding what he's done by "poking fun" at DOA with the inclusion of swimsuits and even mud/sweat on characters. It's certainly not as detailed as DOA's, but it also shows that it's no large admirable feat to be claiming as Team Ninjas has, when it really doesn't affect the game play or mechanics, and fighting games are all about game play and mechanics.

DOA still hasn't even entered the world of "character customization," which is something I thought TN would have included for DOA5 many years ago before DOA5 was even announced. That's not just something Tekken has, but also Virtua Fighter.

On a side note, (not claiming that DOA4 invented "bounce mechanics" as far as fighters go, but) after DOA4 was released, both Virtua Fighter and Tekken also adopted some form of "bounce" for Tekken 6 and VF5. Dead or Alive has had a unique presence in the world of 3D-fighters, but DOA5 is the one that seems to be taking note from Tekken and Virtua Fighter this time around, with lengthy extended combos, destructible floors and walls that continue combos (I might be wrong on the Walls part. I remember the paper doors in one stage for DOA4, but I don't recall if they performed the same action, or if they were just for decoration. Could anyone verify?), as well as the obvious inclusion of the VF characters and "side-step" mechanic.

EDIT: another thing worth noting about Tekken 6 is that the game introduced two (considerably notable) new characters to the series, Leo and Lars. There were other additions, but Lars and Leo share something peculiar with DOA4.
Leo

And Lars.

Yeah yeah, looks aren't quite enough to compare, but really - Leo and Eliot shared some techniques and had similar idle stances, and Lars is remarkably similar to Hayate with his signature dashing mechanic and rising aerial kicks.

DOA4, whether or not a few or many people on this site disliked it, was actually a good game, and was setting a trend in the actual "Developers of Fighting Games" community.

Yeah, yeah, just tell yourself all of that. It seem that's what you've been doing so far. Since you love to dream a lot, I won't stop you. Have fun with it.

NOT true references make it simple I animated before. To be clear, I never said copy then paste, I only said reference. When you're doing a completely new character you have to do more research, concept art for the character, right off and come up with completely new moves beyond what the style is...the list goes on and on it's more than you think. With the guest characters everything you need to do is already there, of course it would be a lot or work, but no where near making a completely new character. If teamninja wanted they simply could of taken the rig and animated it from that lol.
Unless you've counted, I don't think Sarah has more moves than all of the DOA 5 original characters because a lot of them also have over 100 moves.

Actually I saw her sparring mode count and it was well over 100. Pai would be similar as well. Working around someone else contraints isn't as simple as you're making it out to be. Getting them to work in a new gameplay system is harder than a new character you have complete control over.

So do you guys know if there is an ignore button? There's someone here who I want to ignore but he keep popping up a lot. If not then I'll just avoid this topic until it's gone.

I'm sorry but as an Ein player saying they share "just about everything" is simply nonsense. You play Hitomi completely differently than you would play Ein. If they played "exactly" the same no would would care that Ein was cut.

This is completely true. I've mained Ein since DOA2 and there's no way you could ever convince me that Hitomi works the same way. She just doesn't. I cannot play my reset-heavy, defensive-zoning game and hope to achieve the same results with Hitoomi over Ein. It's like a Ken/Ryu difference, shit looks the same but it's still drastically different. What sucks more is that there's no proper alternate for Ein players to go to. At least when SC5 swapped out characters, they got proper replacements albeit with some changes here and there yet the gameplan generally remains the same. It would've been great to have something like that in DOA but I have to look elsewhere (I'm ok with it though, bummed, sure, but ok).

That's great you're a fan of those Virtua Fighter characters, but unfortunate for me all three are garbage I would of preferred Leon, Tengu, and Genra or even Ein over those 3 or at least 2 more brand new DOA 5 characters.
Lei Fei, Vanessa, Jacky, Brad Burns, Goh, Lion and Taka are my favorites in that order. Just Akira should of been added instead, but that's just my opinion. You have to admit though it's much more easier to make guest characters than brand new ones because you already have reference- the only big change is the button layout for the guest characters.

Come on, it's great we have VF characters in the game. It shows there's some form of legitimacy to DOA5's mechanics for AM2 to allow their characters to have a presence in what has essentially been the blackest sheep of fighting games that ever lived. It also encourages another community to come check out our game. Maybe they'll like it and we'll have a larger following for DOA. I'm not really drawn to them over the DOA characters but their presence is welcomed. I'm with you though, I could've gone for Jean Kujo (A PERFECT EIN REPLACEMENT!!!!), Vanessa, or Aoi, but they don't seem to be as iconic as the ones chosen for DOA5. Most people gravitate to Akira, Sarah, and Pai right when they first play VF.

And this thread is the reason why I stopped posting in FSD this week.
Well, returning to the CHARACTER SELECTION SCREEN, I don't know, but If the last space below bayman is Alpha, well, I would like to see their tag throw lol, and how they could manage the story. I still have the hopes for Leon, but it could be the same as Mature and Vice, that they were included at the very least in their debut. I'm not saying that the last space on the screen is Leon.

Dude, I'm so excited to see all the crazy tag throws in DOA5 after watching that DOA4 tag throw compilation posted some time ago. As for the story portion, it's a possibility they'll just keep her out of that mode as they did with the unlockable characters for 4. I'm kinda hoping for some more secret characters in the game but I have a feeling the Mila, Pai, and Gen leaks kinda forced their hand on that matter. There's still the all-but-officially-confirmed Alpha 152 though. Would've liked to have more hidden stuff to look forward to but the roster's rather sizable. I look forward to making the rounds with everyone in the game.

I just want to see Alpha gameplay, I'm almost certain there's no way she's the "Final Boss" of the game yet again, on top of that I want to see what's done with her in this game. I really hope she's not the "Post-Launch" character. It's one thing to say she's the "surprise" when the only people that know about her are the people who look at leaked lists and achievement lists. It's another thing to say she's the "surprise" when everyone clearly saw her in the story mode trailer.

If anything, Donovan should be the "secret post-launch" character even if he's Boss-Only.
