@Stikku: Probably reserving space (and hype) for a WiiU Edition of DOA5, complete with Captain Falcon as a guest character and (you guessed it) Falcon Punch for a PB?

Falcon Props.gif

With the new DOA5 visual style, Leon would look totally badass. Just throwing that out there.

I'd also like to see Tengu and Ein, but personally Leon is the one I'll miss most.

We've already seen how Ein would look. Just look at Hayate. Leon and Tengu would have looked badass for sure though.

Ein does not make sense in this game, yes he was awesome but how can he be in a game when Hayate has his full memories? He was only in 4 to just be put there he had no story or actual purpose. Leon has no reason to enter the tournament anymore he proved his worth in 3 and canon wise to be in 5 makes no sense he was put in 4 just to fill empty spaces. Tengu..... do i really have to get into this one? he's dead

True, but story canon has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on non-canonical competitive play.

moving on from moping about his dead bitch leon continued doing his work as a merc for higher. one day he gets a text from his only black friend in the world ; zack who now works for helena who needs protection and security from attempts on her life during her revitalization of doatec. Leon being a veteran and professional ass kicker was the perfect candidate and accepts the job(for an extremely large sum of money i might add) and is hired . he enters the tournament to viciously and maniacally beat the shit out of anyone that attempts to hurt this weak frail bottom tier bitch.

Approved.

Tengu's a zombie.

No, he just never actually died, because his deception...rules all...of creation. Also, he's a flawless being. In the words of Dagoth Ur; "What a fool you are. I'm a god! How can you kill a god?"

Here's my possible wishful thinking roster choices. You could actually get five more characters in there, and if that black paint near the "OK" select wasn't there six would fit well. Remember this is just my wishful thinking list. If I had to pick between Tengu, Ein, or Leon- I'd go with Tengu because he's the most unique and he also adds another big man besides bass in the game-Tengu has really interesting moves. Would love to see him redone realistically like the rest of the cast.
Edit: There can always be another Tengu besides the original one to even fit in the story. Also if the number of characters on the third row is correct, that would make it reminiscent of DOA 4's roster style.
And while Ryo Hazuki is PS3/360 exclusive, Captan Falcon will be taking his spot in the (possible) WiiU version!

Brilliant speculation, dude! You rock!

The bottom row leads me to believe that more characters will be added, despite what's being reported.

Oh wow. I just noticed how odd the roster looks. All the characters were arranged by their relationship to one another previously, but pai is stuck off in the corner rather than in-between Akira and Sarah. I wonder what this means.

I want to know why Sarah is under Christie.

Bayman is giving it to Alpha-152 who is right under him, in more ways than one. Obviously.

Nice.

If there's anything I've learned about DOA select screens, the ninjas are always gonna occupy the sides.

Ha ha, yup. Don't know why, but that's just how it will always be.

ok, noob question: what does "canon" mean?
i looked it up and it said it meant original... but it seems to mean something else on here.

It means that Pai and Gen Fu actually are having a torrid love affair and Bayman is giving it to Alpha-152 who is right under him, in more ways than one. Obviously.

A guy wearing a Beret, even though it's not required. . . I'm not sure these stories can match.

I want to know why Sarah is under Christie.

One looks more top tier sitting next to the other one. Rule of women friends, women can't be friends with girls in the same tier.

If you've ever watched an anime, canon is the story that follows manga storyline. Non-canon is anything that doesn't follow the story, a la filler, and normally doesnt have as good of a story because it was kinda just made up on the spot.

In DOA's case, say TN had a plan for the story that involved every major character. Leon was never considered a main char, and therefore was never really intergrated into the main story. He was more of a side story (non-canon).

And just like with filler, after they've had their moment of glory, they disappear like they never existed in the first place.

Canon is established, official story basically.
For example. if TN came out and said that Kasumi dies in doa5, it would be canon, and would likely mean there would be no doa6, or if there was a doa6 - that she wouldn't be in it.

But really, there has hardly been any cohesive canon story in the entire series up until DOA:D pretty much wrapped it all up covering the plot of all the Dead or Alive games up until then.

Here's some "canon" story. Lei Fang murders an innocent man over a complete accident by knocking him off a moving train traveling over a bridge because she decided to dress like a whore and he fit the stereotype of a pervert.

(then everyone else on the train applauded her like she'd done something that wasn't a horrible thing)

Don't shorten my name to "Evil" lol. There's another guy around here who goes by that. You can call me "CE" if you want to shorten it.

Cannon essentially refers to what actually occurred in a story versus non-canon which is not officially what occurred in a story/not considered to have a real impact directly on a story's arc and is more than likely never destined to be referred to outside the main story arc.

Comics are an easy example to utilize. Spawn vs Batman, Jackie from The Darkness vs Wolverine are non-conon stories, just fun little side-stories that don't hold much weight over those character's main storylines. Makes sense?

That's not true. Side stories are still canon. Leon's story was just pointless filler and irrelevant to the main plot, but it was still canon.
