First DOA5 pre-order bonus

I think there's a big difference between 25ish characters and 50+....just saying.
yah and thats totally not Tekken's fault for having alot of characters(yeah 40% of them are clones...eh whatever at least they mostly declonded themselfs).

Tekken games have came out fairly consistently and already had a larger roster then DOA since whut? T3?(if not T5) ya...I think it was a natural progression of things...

This is just for me but DOAs characte roster have been much more interesting to me. I actually like the characters in DOA but in tekken these characters seem empty, something about them doesnt make me actually have interest in them. They seem bland and lifeless.

I can't really agree but it' in the eyes of the beholder...but FG characters in general are 1 dimensional so thats something you kinda have to understand...

I can write full character bios on mostly any tekken, street fighter, or even soul calibur character...and you could do the same for a DOA character...the point is moot for the most part, the only difference is that something about said characters appeals to you then the other...that is it...simple as that. Thats why people like Final Fantasy over say Persona and so on and so forth....same argument.

agreed, clones are not inherently evil. Ryu and Ken should prove that fact well enough, and i dont even like SF. im just sayian

Anyone knows if shopto.net is gonna have the pre-order bikini bonus or just the iPhone case?
I was gonna pre-order at zavvi.com but I've been seeing a lot of complains.

I checked this with shopto a few weeks back. In the UK at least, it's only the phone case. No bunnies. They said they would announce it on the front page if that changed, but for now, no bunnies. Personally, I'd rather have the phone case. Worth more, way more collectible and the DLC price for the bunnies will end up being way less than the case.

im not a iPhone hipster..so both seem rather useless. now if it was a figure or Statue..that would be awesome!

I don't see why some people would get a case for a phone that will be outdated within a couple of weeks. Although it's an exclusive item, I would definitely not use it for my phone because it's going to get replaced with the new iPhone when it comes out. Besides, it would be just too pretty to even put on my phone because I don't want to tarnish the look of it.

I agree with icemage. I'd never use it on my phone either. I just want it for the collectible value. I'd never take it out of the box, just like a lot of the DOA stuff I've collected over the years.

I never expected this but the guys at Bamco are seriously outclassing Tecmo with those 100 pre-order bikinis. Meanwhile if you want 18 bikinis in DOA5 you gotta not only get the $80 CE but preorder at two stores, and even then it's only 6 out of 12 bunnies so there's probably more to come. The most screwed up part is the Tekken bikinis are brand new while the DOA5 ones are from DOAX2

After checking out some videos, most characters got one swimming suit and there are a few color swaps. Namco is also throwing around a TON of money so I'd be curious as to how many copies they need to sell to make a profit. Seems risky. TK is playing it lower key with DoA5 which is incredibly smart. They're marketing the game in a way that gets people talking with minimal expenditures. You should have seen how many people were walking around with the "I'm a Fighter" necklaces at SJ6. We handed out 500 of the things but nearly everyone wore them and knew what game it was for, regardless of the game they were there for.

Hell we had McDonald's employees asking about it when we went to grab some food.

TK is going to turn a profit much more quickly than Namco and that's good news for us. DLC sales, if and when they throw some out, will just be icing on the cake for them and a good majority of us will eat it up. One of the benefits to having a large portion of our fanbase be pretty casual is that they'll eat up a lot of the DLC that'd fail miserably in other games. For instance, I didn't see a ton of the paid SCV customization DLC getting used online in that game, but if TK releases some glittery silver glasses for Kasumi, you can bet your ass it's gonna sell like hotcakes to a relatively major segment of our community.

I don't thinkTekken has ever had a problem at turning a profit. Look at how they treat the franchise compared to their step child....I mean Soul Calibur. Also, the dlc for scv was garbage and overpriced imo.

They've also never marketed this aggressively before. If you do anything besides leave your house, you've seen TTT2 ads. That's insanely expensive and it'll eat into their bottom line.

Quantity does not equal quality. So I don't think I'd agree that DOA is being outclassed.
I actually think it looks good for TK if tekken is advertising their free swimwear.... First it makes Namco look desperate because despite having customization, they're kind of crying "look, we have bathing suits too" <and that definetly turns peoples thoughts to DOA. Rule: never advertise your competitors product> and if anyone sees their characters and then happens to see DOA5 I think DOA comes out miles ahead. <yes, I know, my bias is showing>
Maybe it will work the other way. Kind of like the "dumb blond" stigma. "DOA looks so good, there's no way there's a worthwhile fighting game in there, on top of all that jiggle. :("
Maybe I should start a "is DOA too good looking for it's own good?" thread, but I won't.;)

I wouldn't call it bias. Simply put, DOA5's characters look good in swimsuits. TTT2's don't.
