Let me just say that I'm enjoying the game at the moment. The characters that do not rely on the stun system are AMAZING! The game feels very good when playing as those characters.
But then you fight against, or pick a character who doesn't have a way around the stun game, it feels like you're playing DOA4. When Hayate or La Mariposa is played, it's like a DOA4 match. You really can't tell the difference. But when it's Bass against Christie it's nothing by frame traps and evasion. The stun system is an afterthought.
I hate reading the changes to CB in these articles -_-. We seriously need to emphasize during the IPL events and at GVN that CB's NEED to be 2-3 hits max. I mean it sounds like DoA5 is going to be less stun heavy than DoA4 but overall I really do not want to play the stun game again. I know I haven't played it yet but in my mind 4 hits+ to reach CB is a bad thing and I just don't want to play the guessing game that long to get max height...
If they are not going to return the stun system to DoA3 where you need max 2 hits to reach max height then they need to make the CB a useful tool. If I need 4-5 hits to reach a CB I'm literally only going to use it for a flashy PB. Outside of that I'd rather go for the sit down and get a guaranteed low launcher for some quick damage.
It's very much character dependent now. Some characters ignore a good portion of the stun game (Bass), while others are forced to play DOA4 (Hayate). If Hayate could CB in 3 hits, he'd be much better.
Watch the match videos on Wed, Thurs and Fri. You'll see that I almost never go for CB with the characters I play.
Also why was her 2F+KK cheap?
"Cheap" is what the casuals called it because of the NH stun properties. The way it is now is the way it should be. It forces people to learn how to really play the character.
Sorry to sound really negative but she is looking like DOA4 Kokoro with a lousy stance, compensated for with the ability to CB one hit faster than most characters. Just give her the ability to pressure blocking opponents with her stance just like Leifang, Rig and Sarah can and she will be a decent character.
You missed the most important part of the article. She can whiff punish with a safe attack that puts the opponent in a sit-down stun on NH or CH, which can be followed up by another guaranteed sit-down stun, into a guaranteed launch or CB (depending on the setup). You don't need a NH stun 2F+K, or a better stance with those kind of tools.
As I mentioned before, the characters seem to be designed this time around to use different tools per character and not one universal playstyle method for all. With this in mind, burst may or may not be for the whole cast.
This is true, but what happens is that the characters that have to use the stun game (Hayate) are lower tier than the characters who don't (Bass). If Hayate could CB in 3 hits, he'd be right up there with Bass who doesn't care about CB.
Trust me, Kokoro is GOOD in this ... REALLY good infact, her high/low/mid mixup is one of the best in the game if you ask me. As DrDogg mentioned she also has great sit down stuns.
I'd say she's mid-tier. A solid mid-tier, but still mid-tier.
Yo Dogg, can you check if she still has her feint stun from 6P+K ? or was it removed in your build?
Not sure what you think the "faint" stun is, but Kokoro does not have one.
Also you guys are worrying too much about her strikes being linear...
If you played me, you would think differently. Sidesteps rule this game. Period.
