I'm ditching Tekken for DOA, I NEED HELP! (XBOX 360)

The Tekken community is full of ragers, boosters, lag-spikers, and foul-mouthed crybabies... it's not worth putting in +20 hours a week into practicing that game, so I'm officially making the move to DOA. I plan to play offline but since there's no scene here in MO (maybe there is idk,) I'll be doing most of my practicing online. Anyone looking for games, you can just add me (gt Itz King Beebop) or message me if you're looking for games. BTW: I'm preferably looking for people who know kasumi well, but it really doesn't matter what character you play.

Don't see how this can't be said about DOA as well.
And the community is far smaller. (which makes it more severe when applied)
Odd choice to move over.

Move over for boobs.

Well, when you play tekken offline. you can't really go back to online... there's the lag (but then again you'll always have that unless you play vf) and then there are the people who just show complete stupidity when they play. Its not even like i lose often either, it's just come to the point at which that game is not fun for me anymore. I'm making the jump to DOA so i can have something to learn (not like i didn't learn anything from tekken) i want there to be a large skill gap from the top... being the #1 Zafina on XBOX doesn't mean much if there's no real competition...

To the bold, that actually applies to a lot of fighting games. Definitely applies to DOA as well. I facepalm all too often at majority of Ayane players because hardly any of them play her appropriately. Then there are players in general that do will random things. And in 3D fighters, you'll always have players abusing lag tactics, so you're not exactly going to be escaping that by leaving one 3D fighter and branching into another one.

Anywho, it's nice to see you're picking up DOA. Good timing too, because DOA5U comes out next week.

I agree with Hajin, people can play incredibly stupid in Mortal Kombat 9, Injustice, SoulCalibur 5, Street Fighter 4, etc. online to the point that I try to avoid playing randoms. However, majority of the people I played offline always at least made a concerted effort to play properly, regardless of skill level.

As for the TC, I welcome you to DOA and hope that you enjoy your time learning the game. Once you play people that have graduated past mindless mashing, mindless spamming and "randomness"-tactics, then the game becomes a thing of beauty when played well!

I do understand that the scrub menaces of online fighters are prominent everywhere you go, but I'm mainly ditching Tekken community because there's no true competition (especially on XBOX.) The DOA community, on the other end has proven to be... less idiotic, and there's is also a better chance that you don't get completely scrubbed out on DOA compared to Tekken. Think about it like this Tekken combos (and now TTT2 strings) basically do 50% of guaranteed health, no poking and/or punishing required: DOA has been updated to the point at which a lot of the guaranteed damage is gone. IMO many of the good DOA players are actually good in either their punishing, their crushing, their set ups, etc. and even the "high rank phonies" get quickly exposed... but in the Tekken community, there are probably 50-60 good players vs the +50,000 people who play the game almost everyday... if less than 5% of players on that game are good, why should i try to play it? I'm positive that a larger % of the DOA community actually know how to play, than Tekken... that's the main reason that I'm making the switch.

Tekken Combo Tournament 2 or Dead or Alive 5, which one do you prefer?

I did that transition after Tekken 6 (or more like when DoA5 came back to Playstation), where I somewhat had the same idea. I hate guaranteed damage to 50% of your health bar through air juggles, where the skill difference should be between you and him all game through, not 2 hits and you're out to watch movies. But /care, I know some like that too and I'm not remorseful for I had a good time with Tekken as well. Just to warn you though, DoA is more complex and very different from most fighters because of the triangle system. But for people willing to learn it is nothing too difficult either, I recommend that you'd head on over to emperor cow's tutorials to cover all the basics (Not 5U elements included).

Also this game is way more stylish and artful in my opinion. The environments are more beautiful, the character interaction with it as well. This may sound silly in the start, but once you come over it might be difficult to go back for such initially silly elements. In general every visual details (water, smoke, etc.) seem to have been payed more attention to than in other fighters, and play a part in the fight. The flow can't be complained, and makes you feel more like an martial artist, and I think you'd like it, especially if you're in for the long run. It makes the win that much more satisfying.

Anyways, there is a big tournament coming up 13-15 sep (see top publication). I guess there you'd see everything DoA5U will be about from a tournament's perspective.

So ye, welcome! :bradwong:

Don't get me wrong, I've had my times on Tekken as well... it's just that there's no real fun in being the only legitimate player of some of my characters (Bryan Fury, Steve Fox, Zafina... the list goes on.) I like DoA over Tekken because there's a greater number of respectful people on DoA. Trust me when I say this, you can come here onto FreeStep, or go into a few DoA online lobbies and eventually you'll find someone who is willing to help you out in learning the game or swap character strats much faster than that of Tekken (if Tekken provides that at all, Tekken Zaibatsu just gives a few of each characters "good moves" and some overall punishing, which is never done anyway.)

I'm on DoA for a better enjoyment of my XBOX... after 5-8 hatemails from people who whine about getting punished or mixed up on Tekken, you get the feeling that many of the "online warriors" are a lost cause. They don't accept help, give help, and just complain when someone plays a character properly... and then they give the piss-poor excuse that they watch Koreans to get their "online set-ups." It's just that online Tekken players are too immature for me, that's all.

Dead or Alive 5 (and next weeks DoA5U) are a lot more fun and engaging than Tekken for me. It's mostly a personal preference rather than much against Tekken. I play most fighters but this is my game of choice. Add me if you'd like.

Okay, I'll be sure to hit u up when I get on today... but beware, I will most likely try and scrub you out XD

being the #1 Zafina on XBOX doesn't mean much if there's no real competition...

Yep you clearly are the number 1 zafina steve and bryan in the leaderboards. As if online rank matters most of the top ranks are boosted anyway. the highest real rank is yaksa by speedkicks. Making the statement that you were number one and that there was no competition seemed like a pretty pointless statement. Especially when you get caught lying about it.

Okay (lol) first off anyone can play ranked to get a high rank... I didn't know I had to be absurdly literal but when I said I was top zafina on XBOX, I meant skill-wise... not actual ranked match rank (if u play ranked for fun I personally feel that you're wasting your time) I'm only a duelist with zafina and bryan, and then I'm a warrior with steve, and I know many well-known xbox tekken players that can support my statements, the rank is not the point. Since it feels nice to be an "online warrior" and try to expose people, you can gladly come over to tekken and I can show u what I know. I understand if u were looking for a pretty colorful yaksa rank, but I feel that ranked match is a waste of time so I don't play it. I'll be clearer next time that I make a statement like that... and doesn't speedkicks only play on PSN?

Let's leave that there and get back to the topic or don't post, guys. No need to call anybody out on anything since there's literally no point on it. Beebop, I'm actually a bit impressed that you didn't jump down his throat since most people would have. Still, try not to even respond to that kind of thing and just report it going forward.

I'm adding this guy (Itz King Beebop), if only because he plays Zafina and I'm beginning to give the series a chance in general because of its particularly hilarious side, such as innocent panda owners humping refrigerators and borderline schoolgirl lesbian parings that should happen but never follow through....

But I dunno a thing about playing the water Pokemon trainer though. All I know is that her splash she gained from Magikarp is super-effective. I play Christie exclusively.
